Job Description

Under the direct supervision of the Plant Engineer, take a hands-on approach in planning, organizing, assisting, and supervising the day-to-day staff assignments for maintenance, service, repair, and preventive maintenance on all plant equipment. The goal is to maximize equipment life and productivity, eliminate breakdowns, and minimize downtime, along with supervising Maintenance Technicians.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe and clean work environment
• Work as a team within the maintenance department
• Practice accident prevention and contribute to plant safety and cleanliness
• Assist the Plant Engineer in supervising, training, and directing maintenance team members
• Assist in maintaining and servicing industrial equipment, boilers, steam, pneumatic, electronic, electrical systems, and wastewater discharge processes
• Perform preventive maintenance to maximize equipment productivity and prevent breakdowns
• Service and moderately repair industrial equipment, including routine tasks like greasing, lubing, filter changes, and other assigned duties
• Utilize hands-on mechanical techniques in troubleshooting and maintenance
• Support plant productivity and perform other duties as assigned by management
• Improve safety and cleanliness by recommending and implementing improvements, and eliminating deficiencies across the facility
• Maintain good housekeeping practices inside the department and throughout the workday

Requirements

• HS Diploma; a degree from Technical/Vocational College is a plus
• Proven success and hands-on skills in mechanical and some electrical techniques
• Prior supervisory experience
• Knowledge and skill in using hand tools, jacks, chain hoists, electrical test equipment, etc.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

While performing this job, the employee must stand, walk, sit, climb stairs, balance, kneel, bend, stoop, crouch, and exercise continuous use of hand controls including fingering and keyboarding. Must lift or carry up to 75 lbs, reach, use a computer, talk, and hear. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee must be able to stand and walk frequently throughout the day.
