Job summary

NCW is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician with strong mechanical, electrical, and controls experience focused on CNC machine tools and automation systems. Qualifications

  • 3–7+ years of manufacturing maintenance experience, including CNC machine tools.
  • Strong understanding of CNC controls, servo systems, and electrical troubleshooting.
  • Experience with PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or equivalent) preferred.
  • Ability to use test equipment (multimeter, oscilloscope, megger, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on CNC machines and other production equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair CNC controls, electrical systems, servos, drives, PLCs, and HMIs.
  • Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical issues to minimize downtime.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and technical manuals.
  • Work with CNC control systems such as Fanuc, Siemens, Mazatrol, or similar.
  • Support machine installations, upgrades, retrofits, and commissioning.
  • Calibrate machines and perform alignments (ballbar, laser, backlash adjustments, etc.).
  • Maintain documentation for maintenance activities, repairs, and parts usage.
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams to improve equipment reliability.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, OSHA, and company maintenance standards.
  • Assist with root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain spare parts inventory and recommend critical spares.

Job Description

We are looking for someone with strong mechanical, electrical, and controls experience, with a focus on CNC machine tools and automation systems. This technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing CNC machines, production equipment, and plant systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient manufacturing operations.

  • Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on CNC machines (mills, lathes, grinders, multitasking machines) as well as other production equipment
  • Troubleshoot and repair CNC controls, electrical systems, servos, drives, PLCs, and HMIs
  • Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical issues to minimize downtime
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and technical manuals
  • Work with CNC control systems such as Fanuc, Siemens, Mazatrol, or similar
  • Support machine installations, upgrades, retrofits, and commissioning

Required Qualifications
  • 3–7+ years of manufacturing maintenance experience, including CNC machine tools
  • Strong understanding of CNC controls, servo systems, and electrical troubleshooting
  • Experience with PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or equivalent) preferred
  • Ability to use test equipment (multimeter, oscilloscope, megger, etc.)
  • Proficient in mechanical systems: bearings, ball screws, gearboxes, pumps
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills
Preferred Skills & Experience
  • Experience maintaining automated manufacturing cells or robotics
  • Basic PLC programming and diagnostics
  • VFD troubleshooting and parameter setup
  • Experience with CMMS systems
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing and TPM principles
  • Welding, fabrication, or machining experience
  • OSHA 10 or 40 hour a plus
  • Forklift/PIT/LOTO trained and authorized in a previous role
