Maintenance Technician – Council Bluffs, IA

Join our team in Council Bluffs, IA, where you’ll play a key role in maintaining and troubleshooting production machinery used in the manufacturing of plastic products. This is a hands-on role in a fast-paced industrial environment, ideal for a technician who thrives on problem-solving and precision.
Position Details:
- Location:Council Bluffs, IA
- Schedule:Monday – Friday, 1st Shift
- Industry:Plastic product manufacturing
Key Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems on plastic production machinery, including PLCs, motors, sensors, and control panels
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance to minimize downtime and ensure optimal performance
- Maintain, repair, and upgrade mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems as needed
- Execute small-scale fabrication projects including wiring, conduit installation, and panel layout
- Accurately document all maintenance activities using CMMS or similar software
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and assist with equipment upgrades or installations
- Adhere to all company safety policies and participate in safety training and audits
Qualifications & Skills:
- Education:High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications in electrical or industrial maintenance
- Experience:
- 2–5 years in a maintenance role within a manufacturing environment
- Strong electrical troubleshooting skills (control wiring, sensors, VFDs, PLCs)
- Experience working with extrusion, thermoforming, or other plastic molding equipment is a plus
- Technical Skills:
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals
- Skilled in the safe use of electrical tools, testing equipment, and diagnostic instruments
- Knowledge of NFPA 70E and lockout/tagout procedures
- Soft Skills:
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Good communication skills and a team-player attitude
- Flexibility to respond to urgent repair needs and changing priorities
