Job summary

Wayne-Sanderson Farms in Laurel, MS is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to perform preventative maintenance, repairs, and inspections on hydraulic, pneumatic, and conveyor systems. The role requires a high school diploma (vocational cert preferred) and strong mechanical aptitude. Shift is Monday–Friday 8:00 AM–5:00 PM with occasional weekends.

Qualifications

• Must be mechanically inclined with relevant experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to read and understand schematics, blueprints, etc. to diagnose problems with manufacturing equipment.
• Good computer literacy with ability to enter work records in appropriate program.
• Must have good communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to communicate with all levels of the organization in a timely and professional manner; multi-lingual strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance inspections and service on machines, including cleaning, oiling, lubricating, changing belts machinery as necessary to ensure machines are in optimal working condition
• Identify root cause of unexpected breakdowns of machines; repair quickly and efficiently to decrease downtime for machine
• Record and report damaged, worn, or broken parts, ordering and installing replacement parts for machines as needed
• Prepare reports documenting work performed.
• Clean, organize, inventory, stock, and otherwise maintains shop areas, parts, tools, and supplies as needed
• Coordinate with managers to schedule regular maintenance on machines.
• Collaborate with department heads regarding new products being added and modifications that will be required
• Make necessary modifications and implements tests runs; confers with product manager regarding test results and makes additional alterations to machinery as required
• Identify opportunities for improvement, present to appropriate leader, and implement, lead or participate in solution implementation
• Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in all areas where mandatory helping to promote a zero-accident culture
• Perform additional relevant duties as assigned
