Role Overview
Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Maintenance Manager/Plant Engineer is responsible for achieving the highest level of reliability for plant equipment. This involves supporting the Sonoco Performance System (SPS), Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), and owning the Maintenance Excellence process within the plant.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure employee safety by leading comprehensive safety processes and ensuring compliance with all safety and environmental regulations.
- Implement and maintain reliability-centered maintenance processes to improve machine uptime, OEE, and reduce operational costs.
- Lead the department to maintain high standards of plant condition and equipment performance.
- Ensure personnel possess necessary skills, are qualified, and receive ongoing technical training and development.
- Manage capital projects, participate in budgeting, and oversee department spending.
- Use reliability tools to analyze critical equipment failures and implement solutions to enhance reliability.
- Contribute as a key member of the plant leadership team, fostering communication and problem-solving to drive improvements.
- Support continuous improvement activities within the pillar framework.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Strong understanding of OSHA requirements related to equipment safety.
- Proven leadership and team development skills.
- Excellent organizational, project management, and communication skills.
- Proficient in Root Cause Analysis techniques and implementing countermeasures.
- Process-oriented with the ability to identify gaps and implement solutions.
- Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, instrumentation, lubrication, and predictive maintenance.
- Ability to manage costs effectively.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and experienced with CMMS.
- Minimum 3+ years of supervisory manufacturing experience or 5+ years in a similar role.
- Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Maintenance, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with TPM or Reliability fields is preferred.
