Job description

We are now hiring for an Extruder Machine Operator for a Manufacturing company in San Marcos, TX. These positions are starting ASAP. Please submit your resume to this posting and call our office at 830-629-2525.

Pay:

  • 1st shift - $22/hr + $1/rotating shift differential
  • 2nd shift - $22/hr + $1/rotating shift differential + $1/night shift differential

Schedule: (2nd shift will start on 1st shift for training and then transition to 2nd shift)

  • 1st shift (rotating schedule): 6am-6pm. Monday, Thursday & Friday one week, the next week Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday
  • 2nd shift (rotating schedule): 6pm-6am. Monday, Thursday & Friday one week, the next week Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday

Job Description:

The Extrusion Operator plays a critical role in our manufacturing process, operating extrusion machines to shape materials such as plastics or metals into long continuous products like pipes, tubes, and profiles. This position involves a variety of tasks essential for the efficient and safe operation of extrusion machinery.

Responsibilities:

  • Setup and Preparation: Select, assemble, and install correct dies, and calibrate machine settings (temperature, pressure, speed) based on material specifications and product requirements.
  • Feeding Material: Load raw materials into the extrusion machine, which may include pellets, powders, or liquids, depending on the extruder type and materials used.
  • Operate and manage extrusion machines to produce high-quality products efficiently.
  • Monitor the extrusion process, making adjustments to machine settings as necessary to maintain product quality and production efficiency.
  • Conduct quality control inspections and tests, utilizing instruments like calipers and micrometers to ensure product specifications are met or exceeded.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with extrusion machines, including clearing blockages and making minor repairs.
  • Maintain accurate production records and logs of machine settings, maintenance activities, and quality control outcomes.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment and maintaining a clean work environment.
  • Collaborate with the production team to meet production goals and enhance processes.

Skills:

  • Preferred previous experience as an Extrusion Operator or in a similar manufacturing role.
  • Technical knowledge of extrusion processes and machinery.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and troubleshooting ability.
  • Proficiency in quality control measures and precision measuring tools.
  • Basic mechanical skills for maintenance and repairs.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork capabilities.
  • Physical stamina: ability to stand 100% of the time, lift up to 50 pounds, and perform manual tasks.
  • Commitment to safety as a top priority.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; trade school education is a plus.
  • Professional, organized, dedicated, and punctual.
  • Capability to perform work in industrial facilities, including walking, bending, reaching, and gripping tools during the eight hours shift.
