Being a manufacturing lead person requires a combination of technical expertise, leadership skills, and industry-specific knowledge. Here are some essential skills for a manufacturing lead:

  1. Employee Training and Development: Responsible for training and developing team members to enhance their skills and productivity.
  2. Conflict Resolution Techniques: Dealing with conflicts effectively to maintain a positive work environment and ensure smooth operations.
  3. Quality Management Systems: Understanding and implementing quality control processes to maintain product quality.
  4. Project Management Abilities: Managing production projects, timelines, and resources efficiently.
  5. Advanced Problem Solving: Addressing complex issues related to production, equipment, or processes.
  6. Computer-Aided Design (CAD): Familiarity with CAD software for designing and optimizing manufacturing processes.
  7. Performance Metrics Analysis: Analyzing production data to identify areas for improvement.
  8. Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM): Knowledge of CAM software for automating manufacturing processes such as Radan.
  9. Lean Manufacturing: Implementing lean principles to minimize waste and improve efficiency.

  2. Experience setting up and running roll forming machines.

  5. Familiarity with welding processes.
  6. Experience with shipping and receiving procedures.
  7. Mechanical experience and familiarity with machine maintenance (helpful).

As a lead, you will report to and receive direction from the Director of Manufacturing. You will assist in achieving manufacturing and shipping goals set by the sales and manufacturing teams. Your ideas and suggestions will be valued as you seek solutions to manufacturing challenges.
