Job summary

Corning Incorporated in Concord, NC invites motivated students to join the Manufacturing IT team for a 10‑week summer internship (May–August 2027). You will work with engineers and technicians, support control systems, and help develop software used in optical fiber manufacturing.

You'll gain hands‑on experience with plant systems, troubleshooting, and cross‑functional improvement projects, while communicating progress to technical and business partners.

Qualifications

• Student pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Analytics, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
• Ability to learn new technologies, processes, and business concepts quickly.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Support management, modification, and development of control systems used in optical fiber manufacturing.
• Develop or modify software that supports manufacturing, including web-based or stand-alone applications.
• Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to understand needs and implement improvements.
• Assist with troubleshooting software, control system, and manufacturing technology issues.
• Participate in requirements gathering, solution design, testing, documentation, and implementation.
• Support analysis of system performance and identification of improvement opportunities.
• Document technical solutions, configurations, and project outcomes.
• Communicate progress, findings, and recommendations to technical and business partners.
