Finishing Technicians are responsible for performing a variety of assignments related to regular and special department functions to ensure the mold continuously flows through the Cell with minimal to no interruption in the process. They are responsible for ensuring the parts are defect-free, meet customer specifications, and are shipped to the customer.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Comply with all safety and health guidelines, quality standard practices/procedures, and housekeeping standards.
  • Read Finishing cell standard practices and procedures in the Signicast Switchboard system.
  • Provide information to master tech on improvements to standard practices or finishing cell procedures.
  • Check the quality of parts and fix/weld to customer specifications.
  • Maintain electronic files on Switchboard, if any changes or adjustments are needed to process the job quicker.
  • Tap holes in parts to customer specifications.
  • Operate equipment such as a surface grinder, bending and straightening parts using machines/presses based on customer specifications. Grind off gate witnesses to customer specifications by operating a variety of manual and CNC machines.
  • Detect cracks in parts (mag particles), if applicable.
  • Heat treat parts to customer specifications and measure hardness of parts.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on the daily checklists of inspecting hose nozzles, sandblasters, cleaning inside of equipment, and greasing fittings.
  • Send parts to outside subcontractors and receive and inspect parts upon return.
  • Prepare product for shipment based on customer specifications and perform random quality checks on outgoing parts.
  • Dependable and reliable attendance is required.
  • Ensure product is not moved to the next operation until the required inspection and tests are complete.
  • If applicable, back up for other areas if the continuous flow manufacturing process is interrupted to remove any backlogs.
  • If certified on the forklift or power pallet jack, load and unload trucks, receive and deliver incoming packages, and if applicable, ship packages UPS.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or HSED/GED equivalent preferred. Must possess good computer skills and be able to learn new skills as needed.
