Job summary

Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems LLC is hiring an Automation and Controls Tech on-site in Huntington, IN. Mon-Fri, 7 AM - 4 PM, pay between $25.70 and $35.16/hr. Benefits start day one.

Responsibilities include leading automation projects, equipment launches, troubleshooting electrical/robotic systems, and ensuring safety and quality. The role requires hands-on experience with PLCs, robotics, and control systems, plus the ability to coordinate maintenance and perform preventive tasks.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED; 2 years electrical training or Journeyman certification; 5 years automotive environment preferred
  • Experience with automation controls and PLCs
  • Knowledge of robotics and vision systems for inline manufacturing
  • Strong troubleshooting and preventive maintenance abilities

Responsibilities

  • Lead projects including process additions to machines and poke-yoke improvements.
  • Assist launches of new equipment and verify safety assessments before shipment.
  • Troubleshoot and mentor Maintenance Technicians on electrical and automation topics.
  • Repair electrical controls, drives, communications, plant power, wiring and robot paths.
  • Make programming changes to PLC, HMI and robots as needed.
  • Perform all preventive maintenance and calibrations per schedule.
  • Schedule time, materials and equipment and maintain documentation.
  • Support Production and assist in spare parts inventory management.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Automation and Controls Tech- onsite in Huntington, IN
Mon - Fri, 7 AM - 4 PM
Pay dependent on experience and is between $25.70 and $35.16/hr

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Lead projects inclusive of activities involving process additions to machines, addition and revision of poke yoke methodologies, and other continuous improvement on existing inhouse equipment and processes.
  • Assists with launches of new equipment and verifying safety assessments prior to equipment shipment.
  • Works with Control Technicians in the troubleshooting process of existing equipment and mentors Maintenance Technicians
  • Troubleshoot and repair various types of electrical controls, drives, communications, plant power, wiring, circuits, robot paths and etc.
  • Use laptop and various software programs and network interfaces to communicate with equipment.
  • Ability to make programming changes to PLC, HMI & robots
  • Assist technical services in machine repair, change over, set up and operation as required
  • Perform all preventative maintenance requirements as scheduled, including calibrations
  • Have mechanical aptitude that compliments electrical capabilities.
  • Ability to schedule time, materials and equipment required to perform tasks, and to properly use and complete required documentation
  • Support of Production as and when required.
  • Assist in keeping a spare parts inventory
  • Have a professional customer service attitude and ability to communicate with all levels of associates
  • Install, maintain & troubleshoot vision system equipment
  • Multi-Axis, Servo driven CNC Machining equipment
  • Additional responsibilities may be added when necessary

Education & Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); 2 years electrical training or Journeyman’s certification or 5 years experience.in automotive environment preferred
