OTTO Engineering, Inc. is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Technician - Controls in Carpentersville, IL. You will support Manufacturing and Tool Development Engineers with fixture development, process improvements, and controller box design and debugging.

Ideal candidates have 1-2 years of related experience, basic electronics and machining skills, and the ability to lift up to 40 lbs. The role offers a base salary with profit sharing and a strong benefits package.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years related experience preferred.
• Basic communication skills.
• Lift equipment up to 40 lbs.
• Experience using machining equipment.
• Experience in basic electronics, wiring, and programming.

Responsibilities

• Establish design concepts for jigs and fixtures from production drawings and feedback that meet requirements.
• Make design changes to existing tooling to improve quality and reduce cycle time.
• Assemble and debug mechanisms.
• Order purchased components for in-house design mechanisms.
• Work with machine shop and outside suppliers to fabricate parts.
• Machine or modify component parts.
• Design, build, program and debug controller boxes.
• Inspect and service electrical/control panels.
• Disassemble, repair, or replace worn parts.
• Assist in moving equipment.
• Provide support to production supervision.
• Adjust equipment to maintain quality.
• Identify and implement machine improvements.
• Assist with related duties as required.

OurManufacturing Engineering Technicianwill assist Manufacturing Engineers and Tool Development Engineers in daily activities including fixture development and troubleshooting, streamlining manufacturing processes, and special projects.

The Manufacturing Engineering Technician will:

• Establish design concept for jigs and fixtures from production drawings, piece parts, Production feedback, or Manufacturing Engineering feedback that meet or exceed the requirements on all respects
• Make design changes to existing tooling to improve product quality and reduce cycle time
• Assemble and debug mechanisms
• Order purchased components for in house design mechanisms
• Work with Machine Shop and outside suppliers to have component parts fabricated
• Machine or modify component parts
• Design, build, program and debug controller boxes on in-house or purchased equipment
• Inspect and service electric and electronic control circuit and panels periodically
• Disassemble, repair, or replace worn or defective parts
• Assist in moving equipment
• Provides support to production supervision
• Adjustment of equipment to maintain quality
• Identify and implement machine improvements
• Assist with other related duties as required or assigned

The hiring range listed in this posting is what we, in good faith, anticipate relying on when confirming a base salary for this position; exceptions may be considered for highly experienced candidates with multiple years of at-level experience.

• Target base salary hiring range: $52,000 to $67,000, based on qualifications and experience.
• Profit Sharing Bonus - OTTO believes that it’s fair to share the profits that the employees help to make; profit sharing is distributed to employees twice a year. OTTO’s profit sharing plan is paid at the discretion of the company and is not a guaranteed bonus or any part of a compensation plan.
• Vacation: 80 hours - vacation time is earned on the anniversary date.
