Job Description
Key point of the position:
- Assist the Manufacturing Engineering team with design, development, testing, and implementation of new manufacturing technology and processes.
- The Manufacturing Engineering Technician is responsible for supporting, troubleshooting, resolving, and preventing production issues that affect Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost within internal processes.
Responsibilities:
- Safety: Exhibit safe work habits in all manufacturing processes, following training. Identify safety risks in manufacturing processes and develop preventative actions, with oversight.
- Process Maintenance: Provide support and basic troubleshooting for current operations, with oversight. Ensure that assigned manufacturing processes meet design specifications in a repeatable and controlled manner.
- Collaborate with the Production teams in assigned areas to ensure team members have the proper tools, equipment, and fixtures to perform their jobs supporting good ergonomics.
- Analysis: Use Excel and/or Minitab to organize and analyze large data sets for specific goals. Apply Lean Six Sigma tools to verify problems and solutions.
- Maintainability: Assist in maintenance plan development, with oversight. Recommend Preventive Maintenance (PM) actions to mitigate failures and ensure equipment safety. Participate hands-on in scheduled maintenance activities for capital equipment, with oversight.
- Value Stream Mapping: Support understanding of product value streams to enhance Lean manufacturing. Assist in designing process layouts to improve material flow and presentation.
- Continuous Improvement: Support implementation of new manufacturing processes and technologies. Identify and implement cost reduction, quality, safety, and ergonomic improvements, with oversight. Participate in lean activities like 5S Blitz and Kaizen.
Requirements:
- Engineering degree (Associate or higher technical degree) or
- Currently pursuing an Engineering degree (mechanical, industrial, or manufacturing).
- Completed over 50% of academic coursework toward an engineering degree, including proficiency in drafting/modeling.
- Strong communication skills in English.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
- Proficiency in 3D modeling software, preferably SolidWorks.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask.
- Six Sigma Green Belt certification.
Alternatively:
- The candidate may have 10+ years of manufacturing experience and an approved plan to pursue an engineering degree.
