SteveRecruiter, LLC seeks a Manufacturing Engineering Manager for an EMS contract provider in the Windber, PA area. The role oversees SMT and PCBA production, leading NPI transitions to high-yield manufacturing and driving lean improvements on the factory floor.

You will manage a team of manufacturing and process engineers, optimize complex PCBA processes, and lead equipment selection and automation initiatives to elevate productivity, quality, and on-time delivery in a highly regulated

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical engineering or related field.
• 5–8+ years in high-mix/low-volume PCBA EMS environment with 3+ years in leadership.
• Deep knowledge of automated SMT line configurations and IPC guidelines.
• Experience with MES and regulated quality systems (ISO 9001/AS9100/ISO 13485).

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Manufacturing Engineering Manager to lead our site's manufacturing engineering team. This critical role oversees the processes, systems, and advanced robotics that drive high-velocity Surface Mount Technology (SMT) and through-hole production lines. You will lead the transition of new products from introduction (NPI) to full-scale manufacturing, optimizing factory floor layout, implementing lean initiatives, and elevating operational efficiency.

Core Responsibilities

• Leadership & Mentorship: Direct, motivate, and develop a team of Manufacturing and Process Engineers. Oversee department budget, project prioritization, and key performance metrics (KPIs).
• Process Optimization: Define, analyze, and continuously improve complex PCBA manufacturing processes (including SMT lines, reflow soldering, selective solder, wave soldering, and conformal coating).
• New Product Introduction (NPI): Champion the NPI process to guarantee a smooth transition from client design to high-yield production, ensuring robust Design for Manufacturing (DFM) reviews.
• Capital Equipment & Automation: Spearhead the selection, installation, and qualification (IQ/OQ/PQ) of new manufacturing equipment, robotics, and smart-factory technology.
• Lean & 5S Culture: Drive Continuous Improvement initiatives leveraging Lean Manufacturing methodologies, Six Sigma tools, and root-cause analysis to reduce scrap, optimize cycle times, and eliminate process waste.

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Experience: Minimum of 5–8+ years of engineering experience inside a high-mix/low-volume PCBA manufacturing or EMS environment, with at least 3 years in a leadership or managerial capacity.
• Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of modern automated SMT line configurations, advanced soldering metallurgy, IPC guidelines, and manufacturing execution systems (MES).
• Compliance Standards: Strong familiarity with regulated quality systems (e.g., ISO 9001, AS9100, or ISO 13485).
