Job summary

The Judge Group seeks a Manufacturing Engineering Manager for its Sterling, IL facility. You will lead a team of 4-5 engineers to sustain and improve existing products and processes, focusing on plant performance and assembly efficiency.

Responsibilities include driving DFA/DFM, GD&T standards, and continuous improvement initiatives to optimize cost, quality, and throughput. Ideal candidates have DFA/DFM proficiency, strong leadership skills, and a track record of solving complex manufacturing

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with preference for Process or Mechanical Engineering.
• 7+ years in Manufacturing engineering roles.
• 3+ years in a leadership role directing engineers.

Responsibilities

• Develop team capability and engineering effectiveness.
• Drive GD&T usage to improve design clarity and manufacturability.
• Lead DFA/DFM-oriented product and process improvements to reduce cost and variation.
• Collaborate with New Product Development for design reviews and launches.
• Support capital investments to meet quality and capacity goals.
• Lead Kaizen/Lean initiatives to reduce costs and downtime while improving quality.

Salary: $130,000.00 USD Annually - $140,000.00 USD Annually

Description: Our client is currently seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Manager for thier large, Manufacturing facility located in the Sterling Il area. The Manager will lead a team fo 4-5 Direct Report Engineers to sustain & improve existing products & processes with a focus on plant performance, process optimization & assembly efficiency. This role leads the identification and resolution of product, process & design issues and drives continuous improvement initiatives. The position requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and an analystical approach towards problem solving to support a high-volume manufacturing plant. The ideal candaite will have a good technical proficiecny with Design for Assembly (DFA) and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and a decent understanding of GD&T

This Job Will Have The Following Responsibilities

• Develop team capability, performance, and overall engineering effectivenes
• Drive proper use of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) standards to improve design clarity, manufacturability, and inspection consistency
• Drive Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles in product and process improvements to reduce cost, complexity, and variation
• Collaborate with New Product Development teams to support design reviews and ensure smooth product launches
• Drive manufacturability, process stability, and product performance in highvolume production
• Support capital and tooling investments (equipment, molds, fixtures, etc.) to meet quality and capacity requirements
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives (Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing) to reduce costs, scraps, and downtime while improving quality and productivit
• Perform root cause analysis using statistical methods and implement corrective actions
• Partner with Quality and Operations on product and process changes
• Support development of FMEAs, Control Plans, and process capability improvements

Qualifications & Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering - Process or Mechanical preferred
• 7+ years of engineering experience in Manufacturing
• 3+ years in a leadership position directing a team of Engineers
• Strong problem-solving and analytical capabilities
• Strong knowledge of plastic, stamped, and machined part design and manufacturing processes
• Experience with 3D modeling
• Demonstrated leadership, team development, and delegation skills
