Job summary

Twin Disc is seeking a Manager of Manufacturing Engineering to lead the manufacturing engineering team at our Racine, WI facility. You will drive process optimization, lean initiatives, automation, and capital investments to enhance safety, quality, delivery, and cost performance.

The role partners with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Production to ensure manufacturability and production readiness for new products, while advancing operational excellence across the organization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering or related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive manufacturing engineering experience in a complex manufacturing environment.
  • 3+ years of leadership experience managing engineering or technical teams.
  • Experience supporting machining, assembly, heavy manufacturing, or power transmission products.
  • Demonstrated success leading process improvements and capital projects.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a team of manufacturing engineers and technical specialists.
  • Drive improvements in manufacturing processes, tooling, equipment, and production systems.
  • Support daily operations by resolving technical challenges and improving throughput.
  • Standardize manufacturing methods and best practices across the facility.
  • Champion Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Lead value stream mapping, kaizen events, root cause analysis, and waste reduction efforts.
  • Establish and monitor KPIs that drive operational excellence.
  • Identify and implement productivity and cost-reduction opportunities.
  • Partner with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Production teams to support successful product launches.
  • Develop manufacturing strategies, process routings, tooling requirements, and production readiness plans.
  • Ensure manufacturability is incorporated into product development activities.
  • Lead capital equipment projects from justification through implementation.
  • Evaluate and deploy advanced manufacturing technologies, automation systems, and robotics solutions.
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, vendor relationships, and equipment commissioning.
  • Improve equipment utilization and long-term manufacturing capability.
  • Support quality improvement initiatives and corrective action activities.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
  • Promote a culture focused on continuous improvement, accountability, and operational excellence.

We are seeking a Manager, Manufacturing Engineering to lead our manufacturing engineering team at our headquarters manufacturing facility in Racine, Wisconsin. This leadership role is responsible for driving manufacturing performance through process optimization, lean initiatives, automation, capital investments, and cross-functional collaboration. The successful candidate will play a key role in advancing safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and cost performance across the operation.

What You'll Do

As the Manager of Manufacturing Engineering, you will:

Manufacturing Operations Leadership
  • Lead and develop a team of manufacturing engineers and technical specialists.
  • Drive improvements in manufacturing processes, tooling, equipment, and production systems.
  • Support daily operations by resolving technical challenges and improving throughput.

Continuous Improvement

What We’re Looking For
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Five or more years of progressive manufacturing engineering experience in a complex manufacturing environment.
  • Three or more years of leadership experience managing engineering or technical teams.
  • Experience supporting machining, assembly, heavy manufacturing, or power transmission products.
  • Demonstrated success leading process improvements and capital projects.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Engineering, Engineering Management, or Business Administration.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems and manufacturing analytics tools.
  • Knowledge of automation, robotics, Industry 4.0, and smart manufacturing technologies.
  • Experience in an ISO-certified manufacturing environment.
