Job summary

DMG MORI Manufacturing USA in Davis, CA seeks a Manufacturing Engineering Manager to lead the Production Technology Team. You will plan, instruct, and direct engineers, drive project schedules, and coordinate activities across projects to meet company goals and standards.

Responsibilities include developing processes for new products, improving productivity, leading a frontline engineering team, and ensuring effective communication with assembly, purchasing and machining to facilitate schedules

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related subject area.
  • 2 years’ experience in Production Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Research Assistant, or related occupation or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Successfully transitioned from engineering work to leading an engineering team.
  • Strong communication and effective supervisory skills.
  • Prior experience with CNC machine tool design, robotic systems, operation and product development, with specific experience in machine tool operations, assembly, testing/quality assurance.
  • Ability to design, model and draft parts and assemblies using 3D CAD software.
  • Working knowledge of using various types of hand and power tools in the layout, fabrication and assembly of plastic and metal parts.
  • Working knowledge of product engineering studies for mechanical systems verifications.

  • Provide work leadership and training to team members as front line supervisor emphasizing standard and best practices.
  • Establish and communicate clear expectations for team members regarding expected productivity results.
  • Lead corrective and preventive action plan development and implementation.
  • Manage team member’s working time and reporting requirements and hold performance reviews.
  • Use engineering knowledge, to design machine components, fixtures and tooling related to machine tools.
  • Perform product development activities, including concept and production development.
  • Communicate with relevant parties (assembly, purchasing, machining, etc.) to facilitate schedule and delivery.
  • Manage bill of materials for designed products and order parts as necessary.

Hours: Monday - Friday 8 AM - 5 PM / Core Business Hours

This Production Technology Manager’s primary responsibilities encompass planning, instructing, directing, and checking the work of Production Engineers in the Production Technology Team. This position is responsible for estimating, planning, tracking, driving project schedules, and coordinating activities across different projects to ensure the achievement and alignment of company goals, standards and best practices.

Manufacturing environment (assembly, machining, quality control facility) at DMG MORI Manufacturing. Exposure to possible hazards may include noise, electricity, chemicals, heavy equipment, and other automated and manual machinery.

Physical Demands:

Frequent: standing, walking, bending, stooping, lifting, pushing, and pulling, repetitive foot, leg, hand, arm, shoulder, and torso movements.

Periodic: operating power equipment, sitting at desk, utilizing computers and phones.
