Job summary

Johnson & Johnson Med Tech in Puerto Rico seeks a Manufacturing Engineering Manager to lead a team of engineers and technical contributors. You will drive process robustness, equipment reliability, yield improvement and validation activities while aligning with global engineering and operations.

The role requires strong leadership and compliance with GMP/ISO standards. Travel up to 10% and an onsite attendance policy are noted.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering is required; advanced degree or leadership training is preferred.
• Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in manufacturing engineering, maintenance manufacturing, process development, R&D, automation, or regulated manufacturing operations is preferred.
• People leadership or demonstrated technical/team leadership experience is required; experience developing engineers and leading priorities is strongly preferred.
• Experience in the medical device or pharmaceutical industry is preferred.
• Demonstrated experience with GMP/ISO requirements, validation lifecycle (FAT, IQ, OQ, PQ), and technical investigations is preferred.
• Strong communication, cross-functional collaboration, decision-making, coaching, and stakeholder management skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and develop the Manufacturing Engineering team with clear priorities and accountability.
• Establish engineering standards, direction, and governance for manufacturing areas.
• Drive performance metrics such as yield, uptime, OEE, and productivity through disciplined execution.
• Lead programs of moderate to high complexity with safety, regulatory, and financial discipline.
• Provide leadership for root cause analysis, CAPA, and process improvements.
• Ensure robust validation strategies including FAT/IQ/OQ/PQ and computer systems validation.
