Job summary

Vulcan Elements in Durham, NC, with plans to move to Benson, NC, seeks a Manufacturing Engineering Manager to lead and develop a team of Manufacturing Engineers. You will own the full lifecycle of manufacturing equipment and production systems from technology evaluation to ramp to full-scale manufacturing.

This role requires hands-on leadership, strong project management, and the ability to coordinate with R&D, Operations, Quality, and Supply Chain to ensure scalable, high-performance

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Masters degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical, Automation, Materials, Metallurgical Engineering or related technical discipline.
• 7+ years of manufacturing engineering, equipment engineering, industrialization, or related experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience specifying, purchasing, installing, commissioning, and launching complex manufacturing equipment or production systems.
• Experience evaluating manufacturing technologies and translating production requirements into equipment and process specifications.
• Experience managing equipment suppliers, technical schedules, FATs, installation, commissioning, and production qualification.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and develop a team of Manufacturing Engineers, set priorities, remove roadblocks, and drive milestones.
• Evaluate and select technologies to scale production and assess capability, throughput, quality, reliability, automation, cost, and scalability.
• Oversee equipment specifications, RFQs, technical evaluations, vendor assessments, and equipment selection to meet capacity and quality goals.
• Provide leadership through the equipment purchase lifecycle, including FAT and SAT, installation, and production qualification.
• Coordinate with vendors, facilities, operations, controls, maintenance, EHS, and quality for safe production ramp and startup.
• Drive resolution of bottlenecks and establish stable, repeatable manufacturing processes during ramp.
