Job summary

ABB is seeking an engineering intern for an onsite role in Hackettstown, New Jersey. You will gain practical experience through various projects, support ABB's operations, and enhance education/employment opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing BS/MS in Mechanical, Industrial or Electrical engineering in the United States.
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from the worksite.
  • Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now and in the future.
  • Ability to analyze complex situations and develop strategic solutions.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Capable of handling multiple tasks while maintaining quality.
  • Collaborate with team members to share updates and progress.

  • Collaborate with operations to support on-time delivery and quality.
  • Identify solutions based on customer needs and ABB offerings.
  • Participate in team meetings and brainstorming sessions.
  • Seek feedback from manager to improve performance.
  • Support manufacturing transformation activities and visual management.
  • Contribute to safety improvements in work areas and processes.

This position reports to:

Manufacturing Engineering Manager

As an intern, you will have the opportunity to gain practical experience through various projects. Each day, you will acquire knowledge by performing tasks as directed. You will also showcase your skills by supporting ABB's operations and enhancing personal education/employment opportunities.

The work model for the role is onsite in Hackettstown, New Jersey.

You will be mainly accountable for:
  • Collaborating with the operations team to strategically solve problems and support on-time delivery of ABB products manufactured to the highest quality

  • Leveraging insights about customer needs and ABB's offerings to identify suitable solutions for clients, leading to project results that meet customer expectations.

  • Participating in team meetings, brainstorming sessions, and other collaborative efforts.

  • Seeking feedback and guidance from manager and team members to improve performance and skills.

  • Supporting manufacturing transformation activities including layout improvements, tool organization, and visual management.

  • Working with the team to drive a safety culture by identifying improvements to work areas and processes.

Qualifications for the role:
  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor's or master's degree program in Mechanical, Industrial or Electrical engineering in the United States.

  • Intern must have reliable transportation to and from the worksite.

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorshipnow and in the future.

  • Utilize critical thinking skills to analyze complex situations and develop strategic solutions.

  • Effectively organize and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.

  • Exhibit the capability to manage several tasks at once while maintaining high standards of quality.

  • Collaborate with team members to convey ideas, share information, and provide updates on project progress.

The hourly rate is determined by things such as the successful applicant's qualifications, graduation year and experience. This position is expected to pay between $20 - $34 per hour.
