Job summary

Hermeus, a venture-backed defense aviation company, is seeking a hands-on Manufacturing Internship based in Atlanta, GA. You will join the Manufacturing Team building hardware from welding to avionics, supporting safe, quality-focused production and rapid prototyping.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an accredited STEM program (undergrad 3rd/4th year or grad).
• Hands-on hardware design, build, test or manufacturing experience from internships or projects.
• GPA 3.0 or higher; strong teamwork and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Support manufacturing projects focused on safety, quality, reliability, and efficiency.
• Partner with engineers and technicians to support hardware build, integration, and production activities.
• Assist with root-cause investigations, corrective actions, and resolution of manufacturing issues.
• Help evaluate designs for manufacturability, testability, and production readiness.
• Support development and improvement of tooling, assembly processes, and test procedures.
• Contribute to continuous improvement efforts that reduce build time, improve quality, and eliminate waste.
• Assist with troubleshooting non-conforming hardware and documenting findings.
• Create and maintain manufacturing documentation, including work instructions, test procedures, BOMs, and standard operating procedures.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support the transition of hardware from development into production.

About The Role:

The Manufacturing Team at Hermeus are the boots on the ground. We have a vast array of experiences ranging from welding, additive, tube bending, machining, integration, and avionics. We are a lean team who are responsible for building a vehicle that will fly. We provide crucial design feedback to our engineering team and can rapidly iterate on design and assembly.

Spring: Around 16 weeks (January - April)

Summer: Around 12 weeks (May - August)

Responsibilities:

• Support manufacturing and process improvement projects focused on safety, quality, reliability, and efficiency
• Partner with engineers and technicians to support hardware build, integration, and production activities

Requirements:

• Must be currently enrolled in a STEM program at an accredited college or university (undergraduate student in your third or fourth year of study, or enrolled in a Master's or Ph.D. program)
• Hands-on experience designing, building, testing, or manufacturing hardware through internships, coursework, research, competition teams, or personal projects
• Strong understanding of engineering first principles and interest in vehicle hardware
• Familiarity with manufacturing, assembly, testing, CAD, technical drawings, or GD&T
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Enthusiasm for aviation and Hermeus’s mission
• GPA of 3.0 or above

The hourly rate listed for this internship is intended as a general guideline. Final compensation will be determined based on degree level.
