Job summary

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Welding or Industrial Engineering required.
  • Over 2 years of job-related experience in manufacturing and weld engineering.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing subject areas.
  • Ability to work to a high degree of accuracy in producing welds with limited supervision.
  • Knowledge of design techniques, weld tooling, and weld processes for precision plans.
  • Strong mechanical and metallurgical knowledge with welding expertise.

  • Identify opportunities or changes to improve products or reduce costs using fabrication knowledge.
  • Troubleshoot product problems involving designs, materials, or processes and provide technical support.
  • Confer with engineers to implement operating procedures and resolve system malfunctions.
  • Determine root causes of failures using statistical methods and recommend changes.
  • Plan and establish sequence of operations to fabricate, weld, paint parts for efficiency.
  • Read blueprints and technical drawings; design and set up weld robot cells.
  • Update documentation for job instructions and SOPs; ensure safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Provide shop floor support and develop welding processes for new products.

As a Manufacturing Engineer - Weld, you will support the development, optimization, and continuous improvement of welding and fabrication processes within the manufacturing environment. You will serve as a technical resource to resolve production challenges, improve efficiency, and ensure product quality and regulatory compliance.

Your Team

You will be part of a cross-functional manufacturing team focused on welding and fabrication operations. The team includes manufacturing engineers, quality engineers, production supervisors, technicians, and operators working together to support production goals and product quality.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Identify opportunities or implement changes to improve products or reduce costs using knowledge of fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment, weld processes, quality control standards, or product design, powder coating, materials and parts.
  • Troubleshoot new or existing product problems involving designs, materials, or processes. Provide technical expertise or support related to manufacturing.
  • Confer with engineers or other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, or provide technical information.
  • Determine root causes of failures using statistical methods and recommend changes in designs, tolerances, or processing methods.
  • Perform nonconforming material analysis and create NCM reports. Work with Quality Control on reducing the NCMRs.
  • Plan and establish sequence of operations to fabricate, weld, paint, plate parts or products and to achieve maximum efficiency and utilization.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, or computer-generated reports.
  • Ability to design and set up weld robot cells for maximum efficiency.
  • Update/create documentation for job instructions, work instructions, and standard operating procedures.
  • Ensure safety procedures are followed, work areas are clean and maintained, and the department is following regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Evaluate precision and accuracy of production equipment and engineering drawings to formulate corrective action plan.
  • Recommend design modifications to eliminate inefficiencies within the weld process.
  • Apply continuous improvement methods such as lean manufacturing to enhance manufacturing quality, reliability, or cost-effectiveness.
  • Supervise the work of technicians and other associates as needed.
  • Provide shop floor support and develop welding processes for new products.
  • Guide technical staff engaged in developing materials for specific uses in projected products or devices.
What You'll Bring
  • Bachelor’s degree in Welding or Industrial Engineering required.
  • Over 2 years of job-related experience in manufacturing and weld engineering.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing subject areas.
  • Ability to work to a high degree of accuracy in a broad range of tasks associated with production welding with limited supervision.
  • Knowledge of design techniques, weld tooling, and weld processes involved in the production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
  • A strong mechanical and metallurgical background with a thorough knowledge of welding is preferred. (GMAW, GMAW-P, RSW, GTAW)
  • Knowledge of welding processes, equipment and robotic applications.
  • Ability to develop, lead and implement multiple projects, simultaneously and still meet desired results.
  • Demonstrated leadership of capital / CI projects focused on meeting departmental goals.
  • Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
  • Determining how a system should work and how changes in conditions, operations, and the environment will affect outcomes.
  • Monitoring/Assessing performance of yourself, other individuals, or organizations to make improvements or take corrective action.
  • Talking to others to convey information accurately and effectively.
  • Experienced in weld validations, weld processes and developing welding procedure specifications (WPS).
  • Experience with or understanding of IQ, OQ and PQ applications related to validation of equipment and processes.
  • Proficient with Solid Edge or Solid Works or Auto-CAD programs.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office tools.
  • The ability to program welding robots is preferred.

The estimated base salary for this position is $96,000 - $132,000 annually. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than or of the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based upon location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors.
