Job summary

Magna International's Cosma division in California is seeking a skilled engineer to lead manufacturing process optimization within BIW assembly. You will apply statistical methods, analyze production data, and collaborate with vendors and internal teams to improve quality and cost efficiency.

The role requires a technical degree or 10 years automotive experience, strong CatiaV4/V5 skills, and proven leadership.

• Understand die processes, tooling, welding, CMM, datum alignment, data reporting.
• Strong computer skills: Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Word.

• Draft layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.

• Estimate production cost and impact of design changes for management review.

Job Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITIONS:

• Apply statistical methods and perform mathematical calculations to determine manufacturing processes, staff requirements, and production standards.
• Coordinate quality control objectives and activities to resolve production problems, maximize product reliability, and minimize cost.
• Confer with vendors, staff, and management personnel regarding purchases, procedures, product specifications, manufacturing capabilities, and project status.
• Draft and design layout of equipment, materials, and workspace to illustrate maximum efficiency, using drafting tools and computer.
• Review production schedules, engineering specifications, orders, and related information to obtain knowledge of manufacturing methods, procedures, and activities.
• Communicate with management and user personnel to develop production and design standards.
• Estimate production cost and effect of product design changes for management review, action, and control

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION:

• Bachelor’s degree in technical related discipline or 10 years related automotive experience with sound understanding of BIW build fit & function.

WORK EXPERIENCE/ TECHNICAL TRAINING:

• Must have an understanding in the following areas, die / die process, assembly tooling, welding & sealer applications, CMM & datum alignment, data processing & reporting, customer tolerancing concepts, working knowledge of catiaV4/V5.
• Strong computer skills including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Power Point, Project, Word.
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Strong leadership skills.
