Job summary

Western Partitions, Inc. (WPI) is hiring an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to independently design tooling and fixtures and own process improvements across welding, powder coating, assembly, and shipping prep operations.

This role also tracks equipment and process KPIs, drives new process design for product launches, and supports CapEx projects from scope through execution. This is a low-supervision role where you’ll run projects end-to-end, make on-floor judgments, and bring solutions

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years hands-on experience in manufacturing/industrial/mechanical engineering.
• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or manufacturing engineering.
• Demonstrated track record designing tooling and fixtures and implementing manufacturing processes.
• Proficiency in CAD software (Autodesk Inventor, Revit).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with SPC experience.
• Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration.
• Strong Lean Manufacturing knowledge (5S, Kaizen, value stream mapping).

Responsibilities

• Design, build and modify tooling, fixtures, and equipment for steel operations to contract specs.
• Analyze and improve workflow processes across fabrication, coating, assembly, and integration.
• Design new process flow to support product launches and line start-ups.
• Develop and maintain process documentation: SOPs, work instructions, control plans, PFMEAs.
• Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for process issues.
• Collaborate with design, production, and quality teams on new product introductions.
• Review technical drawings for design intent and fabrication standards.
• Plan Lean and Six Sigma approaches to reduce waste and improve throughput.
• Monitor KPIs like first pass yield, cycle time, and scrap rate.
• Maintain safety, environmental, and quality standards (ISO 9001, AWS D1.1).
• Support automation and digital transformation initiatives in the plant.
• Manage projects and CapEx to meet schedule and budget.
• Provide technical support for mechanical, electrical, and controls issues.
• Optimize consumables workflows and workstation layouts to hit production goals.
