Job summary

Western Partitions, Inc. (WPI) is hiring a Manufacturing Engineer to independently design tooling and fixtures and own process improvements across welding, powder coating, assembly and integration.

The role focuses on designing, optimizing, and sustaining manufacturing processes to ensure safety, quality, and efficiency in the production system. You will track equipment KPIs, drive new process designs for product launches, and support CapEx projects end-to-end.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years hands-on experience in manufacturing/industrial/mechanical engineering, especially in building/optimizing production lines.
• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or manufacturing engineering.
• Track record designing tooling/fixtures and implementing manufacturing processes.
• Proficiency in CAD software (Autodesk Inventor, Revit).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; experience with SPC.
• Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration.
• Strong Lean Manufacturing knowledge (5S, Kaizen, value stream mapping).

Responsibilities

• Design, build and modify tooling, fixtures, and equipment for steel operations.
• Analyze and improve workflow across fabrication, powder coating, assembly, and system integration.
• Develop process flows for new product launches and start-ups.
• Maintain process documentation: SOPs, work instructions, control plans, PFMEAs.
• Lead RCA/8D and implement corrective actions.
• Collaborate with design, production, and quality teams for new product introductions.
• Review drawings for conformance with design intent and fabrication standards.
• Drive Lean/Six Sigma initiatives to reduce waste and improve throughput.
• Monitor KPIs like first pass yield, cycle time, and scrap rate.
• Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, AWS D1.1 and safety standards.
• Support automation and digital transformation in plant.
• Manage projects including CapEx to meet scope and budget.
