Job summary

Millennium Space Systems seeks a Manufacturing Engineer – Structures and Propulsion in El Segundo, CA to develop, qualify and implement manufacturing processes for satellite hardware. The role requires contributing to build, test and launch readiness, with mandatory second shift and security clearance.

You will review designs for manufacturability, create work instructions, BOMs, and SOPs, and support transition from pilot to higher-rate production using lean methods.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years’ experience in mechanical design and/or manufacturing engineering in Aerospace, Automotive, or Commercial industries (Structures, Propulsion, Integration or GSE)
  • Experience reading, analyzing, and interpreting mechanical engineering drawings
  • Experience in application of production engineering principles to analyze and implement manufacturing processes and methods
  • Must obtain a U.S. Security Clearance; interim and Top Secret Clearance Post‑Start required

  • Lead and execute tasks as needed to transition hardware build from low‑rate initial production to higher‑rate production

As a Manufacturing Engineer – Structures and Propulsion, you will be responsible for developing, qualifying, and implementing manufacturing processes and procedures to build, test and launch satellites, related subsystems, and components. This role requires working mandatory second shift.

Basic Qualifications
  • 2+ years’ experience in mechanical design and/or manufacturing engineering in Aerospace, Automotive, or Commercial industries (Structures, Propulsion, Integration or GSE)
  • Experience reading, analyzing, and interpreting mechanical engineering drawings
  • Experience in application of production engineering principles to analyze and implement manufacturing processes and methods
  • Must obtain a U.S. Security Clearance; interim and Top Secret Clearance Post‑Start required
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering discipline (ABET accreditation required)
  • Good understanding of CAD Software including GD&T per ASME Y14.5
  • Experience with reading and analyzing technical manuals and policies and recommend changes to procedures
  • Technical problem‑solving skills, including root cause analysis with sound engineering based corrective actions
  • Experience with composites, bonded joints, dampers, additive manufacturing, shock or mechanisms
  • Thorough understanding of root cause analysis and related analytical methodology (Five Whys, Fishbone/Ishikawa Analysis, 8D, etc.)
  • Aerospace and/or DOD experience
  • Background in Lean Manufacturing/Process Improvement
  • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field from an accredited university

Shift: Second shift (mandatory).

Security Clearance: Must obtain mandatory U.S. Security Clearance; an interim or final Top Secret Clearance Post‑Start is required.
