Job summary

KSB GIW, Inc. in Grovetown, GA is seeking a Simulation Specialist Manufacturing Engineer to lead casting simulations and improve foundry processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent with 2+ years in manufacturing.
  • Experience with MAGMAsoft, ProCAST, SOLIDCast or FLOW-3D CAST solidification software.
  • Work instruction development.
  • Process risk analysis, PFMEA, Control Plans.
  • Knowledge of foundry, heat treatment, machining and assembly processes.
  • Lean manufacturing experience.
  • 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks or NX.
  • Six Sigma Green or Black Belt accreditation.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, run, and analyze filling, solidification, and stress simulations.
  • Interpret and communicate simulation results to cross-functional teams.
  • Develop and apply simulation strategies to support new product development, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Validate, maintain, and update work instructions based on simulations and shop floor results.
  • Review, implement and improve foundry processes for new and legacy products.
  • Participate and lead cross-functional resources on root cause analysis.
  • Implement scrap reduction and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Develop relationships as a trusted technical leader on the foundry floor.
  • Apply and interpret simulations to assist development and improvement of pattern-making, setup, molding, melting, alloying, pouring, heat treating, cleaning and machining of metals.
  • Actively engage the design for manufacturability process for product development.

OVERVIEW

As a Simulation Specialist Manufacturing Engineer, you will be responsible for casting simulations and continuous improvement of foundry manufacturing processes within KSB Georgia Ironworks. In this position, you’ll gain exposure to all processes utilized in the manufacturing environment, while also providing an opportunity for career development within a global organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and apply simulation strategies to support new product development, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience: Proficient in MAGMAsoft, ProCAST, SOLIDCast, or FLOW-3D CAST solidification software

  • Process risk analysis, Process Flow Charting, PFMEA, Control Plans
  • Knowledge of foundry, heat treatment, machining and assembly processes
  • Experienced in lean manufacturing
  • 3D CAD software experience, prefer SolidWorks, NX
  • Six Sigma Green or Black Belt accreditation
SKILLS / COMPETENCIES
  • Knowledge of industrial safety, quality management standards, production costing, manufacturing processes, and various other techniques needed for optimizing safe and efficient manufacturing processes
  • Incorporating Lean Manufacturing best practices and working in a culture focused on continuous improvement
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and SAP (or other ERP platform)
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Primarily desk-type duties
