Harley-Davidson Motor Company in York is hiring a Manufacturing Engineer/Shift Supervisor for a 3rd shift role. Provides technical support for welding, fabrication, and manufacturing equipment, aiming for peak quality, efficiency, and cost control.

You will work with cross-functional teams to improve processes and meet production targets while supervising on-shift hourly and union staff. This dual role combines engineering problem-solving with shift leadership, requiring hands-on manufacturing

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years related experience with strong supervisory background.
• Prefer Bachelor's in Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering.
• Welding experience highly preferred.
• Experience with lean manufacturing techniques.
• Knowledge of PFMEA, quality controls, tooling, fixturing, and gaging.
• ISO 9000 knowledge and documentation using CAD/PC applications.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction, guidance and training in the development of new processes and in the resolution of manufacturing problems
• Participate with product engineering to design parts for manufacturability
• Serve as a technical resource in various fabrication processes, including: robotic and manual arc welding, laser welding, and robotic polishing
• Oversee hourly and union employees on shift
• Provide productivity improvements to reduce total manufacturing cycle time
• Reduce overall costs through tooling and process improvements
• Provide robust processes, tools and gages to reduce variation in the manufacturing process.
• Provide processes that meet Harley-Davidson's standards in quality, ergonomics and safety along with sustaining required production rates
• Support the development and implementation of systems and processes to ensure continuous improvement, world-class-level quality, and a high performance work environment
• Interface with supervisors, process leads, product engineers and operators in the development of tools, fixtures, and machines to support existing and new product and process design

The Harley-Davidson Motor Company Vehicle Operations facility in York is our final assembly plant. Employees at York also perform a variety of manufacturing operations, including fabrication, welding, polishing and painting and produce a wide range of current and replacement parts for all models. Job Summary

Provides technical support for a variety of welding processes, metal fabrication processes, and manufacturing equipment. Enhances welding and fabrication processes by assuring that parts or assemblies are processed and tooled to meet optimum quality, quantity, and cost requirements. Interfaces with Work Groups, Quality, Product Engineering and Manufacturing Support Services. Develops cost reduction programs through manufacturing efficiency improvements, schedule attainment and first run capacity. *Note - This is a 3rd shift, dual role that will include Shift Supervisor responsibilities

• Typically requires a minimum of 3 years of related experience.
• Strong Supervisor/Leadership experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering Preferred
• Welding experience highly preferred
• Demonstrated understanding and practical application of lean manufacturing techniques.
• Detail process planning including work balancing, work standard development, operator and equipment utilization, ergonomics, PFMEA, quality controls, tooling, fixturing, and gaging.
• Knowledge of process control and quality assurance, SPC, and process capability, documentation/information using CAD, Network/software and PC applications.
• Knowledge of ISO 9000 standards and their relationship to company policies, procedures and instructions.
• Experience with formal problem solving methodology.
• Demonstrated project management skills.
• Knowledge of PLC programming and troubleshooting capability.

The pay range shown represents the national average pay range for this role. Your pay may be more or less than the stated range and is dependent on your geographic location and level of experience.
