Job summary

Oshkosh Corporation in Murfreesboro, TN is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to own manufacturing processes, routings, BOMs and time studies for the new Vocational facility. You will review releases, support new equipment/tooling, and improve coordination between Engineering and Operations.

The role reports to the Chief Engineer - Operations and requires a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field with 5+ years of experience, including HVAC, brazing, and wiring expertise.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Operations, Engineering or related field.
  • 5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience.
  • Experience with HVAC products.
  • Familiar with ERP systems (SAP/Oracle).
  • Ability to read technical documents and drawings.

Responsibilities

  • Subject matter expert for selected processes and manufacturing equipment.
  • Coach engineers/technicians to improve manufacturing excellence.
  • Review design/manufacturing releases; recommend new equipment/tools.
  • Coordinate with Engineering and Operations; manage equipment capitalization.
  • Configure ERP data for cost and labor calculations.

This role will review new releases for design and manufacturing and support with recommendations for new equipment and tooling. The Senior Manufacturing Engineer will provide shop support to aid in improving the coordination and collaboration between Engineering and Operations departments.YOUR IMPACT:These duties are not meant to be all-inclusive, and other duties may be assigned.Be the subject matter expert for a selected series of processes, usually defined by common manufacturing equipment or by productOversee and coach supporting engineers or engineering technicians in their daily work to ensure manufacturing excellenceResponsible for completion of a project or parts of multiple projects of complexity on time and utilize lean/six sigma principles and methodologies in making process improvementsManage the capitalization of equipment and receipts of POs relative to projects you are leading or supportingPerforms complex engineering calculations, investigations, and prepares delivery of plans, designs, computation methods and/or reportingManage the cycle time balance of each station to ensure output matches delivery scheduleDetermine appropriate assembly fixturing that are complex in nature and sequence of operationsReview and select required special tooling and equipmentCollaborate with design engineering to develop corrective actions for product performance issuesDevelop and support recommendations for new equipment and toolingProvide technical guidance for minor to complex issues found in productionConfigure or update ERP data to ensure accurate cost and labor calculationsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor’s degree in Operations, Engineering or related field.Five (5) or more years of experience.STANDOUT QUALIFICATIONS:Experience with HVAC products.Experience with brazing processes.Experience with electrical wiring.Familiar with DC torque tools (Cleco/apex tools preferred)Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, government regulations, and procedure manuals.Ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment.Experience handling EAR-99 and ITAR documentationDetail oriented.Verbal and written communication skills.Dedicating to timely deliverables and willing to work outside typical work hours as neededExperience with common machining equipment (Lathe, Mill, Drill press, Band Saw, etc…)Familiarity with ERP systems (SAP/Oracle)Drafting skills and 2D/3D CAD experience (Siemens NX preferred)CORE COMPETENCIES:Internal Contacts: Contact with peers and others involving explanation of information (these contacts may be within or outside department or division), and the gathering of factual information; may include the communication of sensitive or confidential information.External Contacts: External contact involving a requirement to maintain a continuing external working relationship with individuals, or organizations.Communication Skills: Read, write, and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
