Job summary

Knoll is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer - Seating to lead continuous improvement in our panels department. You will apply lean concepts, standard work, Kaizen and 5S to improve quality, productivity, and safety, while collaborating with quality and product development to address customer requests and new products.

The role emphasizes cross-functional problem solving, process optimization on the production line, and support for program financial targets during launches and post-launch phases.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor-level engineering degree in relevant field.
  • Proficient in MS Office; Excel, Word, Outlook, Project, PowerPoint.
  • Experience with data analytics or automation platforms is a plus (Access, Alteryx, Ignition).

Responsibilities

  • Lead continuous improvement projects in panels department to improve quality, productivity, and safety.
  • Develop lean manufacturing strategies and deploy in work cells (Kaizen, 5S, VSM).
  • Document design changes and manage BOM/drawing controls.
  • Support production line cost-reduction initiatives and product launches.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, and Product Development on changes.

Manufacturing Engineer - Seating (Finance)

POSITION PROFILE

Lead the identification, prioritization, and implementation of continuous improvement projects in our panels department. Develop sustainable improvements through engagement of the team utilizing servant leadership, technical knowledge, and continuous improvement tools to improve quality, productivity, and safety. Utilize lean concepts including standardized work, problem solving methodologies, material handling and planning, and kaizen activities. Implement engineering change notices and work closely with quality and product development to implement customer requests and new product lines.

  • Develop lean manufacturing strategies and deploy into the work cells including but not limited to Standardized Work, Kaizen, Problem-Solving, 5S, Value Stream Mapping, Process Flow, Heijunka, Jidoka, Total Productive Maintenance, etc.
  • Conduct reviews of scrap products, process failures, and customer claims
  • Document design changes and ensure all parts and drawings are handled and delivered according to the Bill of Materials and drawings
  • Initiate and implement process related improvements on production line
  • Support program financial targets and cost reduction initiatives by providing Manufacturing Engineering support during product launch and post-launch phases
  • Responsible for leading the implementation of process improvements and changes that ensure safety, improve product quality and reduce costs
  • Provide technical and advisory support for Manufacturing, Quality, Product Development and develop processes to maximize production throughput
  • Participate in Design for Manufacturability processes for new and existing products
  • Work with product development, quality, and manufacturing to implement engineering change notices
Required Skills:
  • Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Electrical Engineer Degree or equivalent
  • Knowledge of assembly processes will be a plus
  • Advance skill in MS Office including MS Excel, Words, Outlook, Projects and PowerPoint
  • Experience in coding or analytics automation platforms are a plus
  • Specifically Microsoft Access, Alteryx, and Ignition
Required Experience:
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and translate collected information into actionable solutions
  • Ability to manage, prioritize and balance multiple projects
