Job summary

VAL-CO is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer for our Ohio-based facility to evaluate, design, and optimize manufacturing processes and equipment for both new and existing products. The role emphasizes safe, efficient processes and collaboration with tooling, production supervisors, and vendors.

This position focuses on determining tooling and equipment needs, optimizing operation sequences, and developing cost estimates for manufacturing improvements.

Qualifications

• The Manufacturing Engineer evaluates and recommends manufacturing processes and equipment to apply to new and existing products.
• Keeps up to date with latest manufacturing techniques to assure safe and efficient processes.

Responsibilities

• Determine process, tooling and equipment requirements of manufactured products for efficient fabrication and assembly based on production volume.
• Determine the sequence of operations and assist with make, buy, or subcontract decisions for production steps.
• Specify manufacturing requirements for complete lines of machines, equipment, and tooling and recommend new equipment as needed.
• Establish manufacturing processes to assure quality parts in any technology utilized.
• Evaluate new and existing products and recommend improvements to reduce cost or simplify manufacturing.
• Examine new products for manufacturing purposes and develop cost estimates for efficient manufacture.
• Complete CER forms for analysis, review and approval.
• Consult with tooling designers and production supervisors on manufacturing tooling and processing equipment to specify operation goals.
• Design manufacturing or process equipment and create layouts with tooling department.
• Oversee tooling placement and ensure corrections before release to production with supervision.
• Keep abreast of changes in manufacturing technologies to reduce cost and increase efficiency.
• Evaluate requests for process changes and justify or reject them.
• Investigate manufacturing problems to determine root cause and propose design or tooling changes.
• Attend engineering project meetings and serve as liaison for assigned facility.
• Contact vendors for technical information and assistance as needed.
• Assist in establishing and revising work standards for new and existing operations.
• Conduct time studies to establish standard times considering operator skills and delays.
