Job summary

Fives Gidding and Lewis in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to optimize shop production with part programming, new methods, and supplier identification. This role emphasizes improving processes and tooling for high-precision machining in a heavy industry context.

The candidate should have an Associate degree or equivalent (machining/engineering), 5–10 years experience, and strong CAD/CAM and SAP familiarity.

Qualifications

Education: Associate’s degree in machining, manufacturing / industrial engineering or machinist apprenticeship preferred.
5-10 years related experience in OEM, aerospace or heavy industry manufacturing.
Strong background in CNC machining, grinding, setup, programming, and tooling across large machine types.

Responsibilities

Performs detailed analysis to process manufactured parts.
Plans manufacturing processes, creates routings, programming, tooling and equipment lists for each application.
Creates detailed work instructions for machinists.
Designs and develops new tooling and fixtures as required.
Stays current on new manufacturing, fixturing and tooling technology.
Back-up to machine shop supervisor in absence (~20%).
Participates in cost estimates and new methods for cost savings.
Contributes to New Product Development Design-for-Manufacturability process.
Identifies new suppliers to reduce cost and lead time.
