Job summary

Ford Motor Company seeks a Powertrain Production Engineer to lead the specification, build, and launch of production equipment for package attach and reflow soldering of power electronics.

Role requires 5+ years in high-volume manufacturing, experience with soldering methods, ISO clean room exposure, and strong data-driven decision making. Hybrid work setup, travel 10–30% are expected.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Engineering or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years’ experience in Manufacturing/Assembly with automated high-volume production.
  • Experience with package attach / reflow soldering or similar joining methods.
  • Prior experience in ISO clean room environment manufacturing power electronics.
  • Familiarization with ESD controls for handling power electronics.
  • Data-driven mentality and decision-making.
  • Experience applying computers and electronics.
  • Ability to work independently and in teams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the specification, procurement, build, installation and launch of powertrain production equipment for package attach / reflow soldering of power electronics components.
  • Develop and deliver standardized processes and equipment aligned with global powertrain strategies.
  • Develop and implement manufacturing processes for package attach / reflow soldering of power electronics.
  • Support all inspection processes (cross sectioning, pull tests, etc.).
  • Collaborate with Product Engineering to meet Manufacturing Design Specifications for ES and equipment.
  • Support Pilot Manufacturing during early stages of new programs.
  • Troubleshoot production issues impacting FTT and warranty; implement corrective actions.
  • Travel to supplier facilities and Ford Manufacturing plants (10-30%).

In this position...

Lead the specification, procurement, build, installation and launch of Powertrain Production equipment related to package attach / reflow soldering of powertrain power electronics components.

What you'll do...
  • Lead the specification, procurement, build, installation and launch of Powertrain Production equipment related to package attach / reflow soldering of powertrain power electronics components.
  • Develop and deliver standardized processes and equipment in line with global powertrain strategies.
  • Develop and implement manufacturing process associated with package attach / reflow soldering of power electronics.
  • Support all inspection processes (cross sectioning, pull tests, etc.)
  • Collaborate with Product Engineering to achieve a working Product design that meets Manufacturing Design Specifications for package attach / reflow soldering with feasible expectations in the Engineering Specification (ES).
  • Support the Prototype Engineering/Pilot Manufacturing process to determine feasible manufacturing solutions and methodology during the early stages of new programs.
  • Troubleshoot production issues impacting FTT and warranty, determine corrective actions to the part, processes and/or equipment.
  • Travel to suppliers facilities and Ford Manufacturing plants will be required (10-30%)
You’ll have...
  • Bachelor of Engineering in related field or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years’ experience in Manufacturing/Assembly utilizing heavily or fully automated high-volume production.
  • Experience with package attach / reflow soldering. Consideration will be given to those experienced with other joining methods (ex: other soldering methods or welding)
  • Prior experience working in ISO clean room environment manufacturing power electronics
  • Familiarization of ESD controls and measures for handling power electronics
  • Data driven mentality and decision-making process.
  • Application experience in computers and electronics.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Ability to learn product function.
  • Handle multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to a dynamic working environment and diverse team.
  • Mechanical and Controls Engineering aptitude.
  • Project management experience.

This position is a salary grade 6-8 and ranges from $74,300-$166,200.

Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidate's skills and experience, and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope, responsibility and competitive market value.
