Job summary

DMI Companies, Inc. in Wagoner, OK, seeks a Manufacturing Engineer to drive Lean initiatives, cost reduction, and profitability within the SBU.

You will lead projects, optimize processes, and implement automation to improve throughput. You will serve as the technical expert for equipment and processes, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and travel occasionally to support continuous improvement across the factory.

Qualifications

• 4-year Engineering Degree required; degrees include BME, BSME, BMET, BSIE
• Product development experience 2 to 5 years
• NPDP certification a plus; VOC experience a plus

Responsibilities

• Plan, schedule, and lead projects to deliver on time and under budget.

OVERVIEW

This role is responsible for increasing revenue and improving profitability within their Strategic Business Unit (SBU) through the application of Lean Manufacturing principles, Manufacturing Engineering excellence, continuous improvement, cost reduction, waste elimination, and effective Project Management.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Be an active member of the SBU Efficiency Team seeking to identify, develop, and implement cost reduction opportunities throughout the factory and product lines.
• Be a project management professional, planning, scheduling, and leading all projects to successful completion in the shortest possible time, at the lowest possible cost, and always on time, and at or below budget.
• Become the resident expert in Manufacturing Engineering techniques and principles related to equipment, products, and processes under his/her responsibility.
• Monitor and analyze production cost data to prioritize SBU Efficiency Team efforts to significantly reduce and control costs, increase production efficiencies (parts per hour), and increase throughput.
• Champion the use of automation through the integration of new technologies.
• Be an expert in solids modeling (SM), utilizing SM techniques in all machinery and process documentation, including advanced techniques such as animation, and 3-D models.
• Be the technical expert for all equipment utilized in their area of responsibility.
• Identify all critical to quality (CTQ) processes and parameters and provide procedures, sign offs, product documentation, and training to production operators.
• Rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
• Perform a variety of complicated tasks utilizing a wide degree of creativity and latitude.
• Travel may be occasionally required

EDUCATION & SKILLS

• 4-year Engineering Degree required; typical degrees would be:
  • BME – Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering
  • BSME – Bachelor of Science of Mechanical Engineering
  • BMET - Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering Technology
  • BSIE - Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering
• Product development Experience 2 to 5 years
• NPDP certification a plus
• Experienced in VOC (Voice of the customer) a plus
• Rapid Product development techniques a plus
• QFD, 3P, X-functional teams
• Project management experience
• Microsoft Project experience a plus
• PMP certification a plus
• Work experience in a manufacturing environment, concepts, practices and procedures
• Metals Manufacturing Experience Preferred, ideally, sheet metal
• Solids modeling experience
• Knowledge of Lean and/or Six Sigma concepts
• MS Office Suite experience
