Job summary

Virnig Manufacturing seeks a Manufacturing Engineer for our Fort Madison, IA facility to lead startup and ongoing support of new manufacturing operations. You will install and startup equipment and processes, provide hands-on production support, and drive improvements across operations and other departments.

The role requires strong engineering fundamentals, teamwork, and hands-on capability with computer tooling and manufacturing systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience in manufacturing engineering and exposure to quality control processes.
• Proficient with Windows and Microsoft Office programs; strong organizational skills.
• Willingness to work adjusted schedules to support production.

Responsibilities

• Develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing processes and document them.
• Develop and implement quality control processes integrated into production.
• Audit manufacturing processes for safety, quality, delivery, and cost reduction.
• Train employees and coordinate with the manufacturing team on technical topics.
• Collaborate with management and design engineering on tooling and methods.
• Estimate staffing needs, production times, and capital expenditures for decisions.
• Design processes for enhancements, new products, and related fixtures and tooling.
• Own ERP Routers in Production ERP; ensure accuracy with design and production.
• Document tool drawings, concepts, shop orders, and quality control records.
• Provide engineering support to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
• Develop project timelines and meet milestones; coordinate with Engineering and Maintenance.
• Contribute to a comprehensive documented quality program.
