Job summary

GE Aerospace in Cincinnati seeks an Operations Lead for the Thin Film Lab within the Instrumentation Application Shop. You will own lab equipment, coordinate daily planning, and drive safety, quality, delivery and cost.

You will work hands-on with scientists and engineers on micro-sensor applications for aerospace engines, implementing 5S, training tracking, and process improvements. Candidates need a Bachelor's degree or equivalent, 3+ years manufacturing experience, and U.S.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 5 years of experience in manufacturing processes).
  • Minimum 3 years experience in manufacturing, production processes, operations, or technical project management.
  • U.S. Citizenship required for security clearance; ability to obtain clearance is mandatory.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate daily planning for work assignments within the Thin Film Lab, focusing on Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost.
  • Manage lab operations, facilities, and equipment using FLIGHT DECK fundamentals (Action Planning, Standard Work, 5S).
  • Create and maintain development matrices and monitor training progress for instrumentation mechanics within the Thin Film Lab.
  • Support microfabricated sensor applications for aerospace engines and aircraft testing, both in design and application.
  • Assist leadership with process improvements and development of standard work.

Job Description Summary

Engineering associated with the manufacturing process of micro-sensors. Coordinate daily operations for the Thin Film Lab within the Instrumentation Application Shop (IAS). This position has ownership of lab equipment and facilities within IAS. This position has significant input into priorities. Guided by professional practices and policies that are shaped by the role. The role has moderate autonomy, requiring operational judgment. You will be working hands-on in a collaborative team to apply micro-sensors and integrate sensor systems into next-generation engines. You will be working closely with scientists, engineers, and laboratory personnel to ensure on-time customer delivery of projects.

Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
  • Coordinate daily planning for work assignments within the Thinh Film Lab, maintaining focus on Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost
  • Manage lab operations, facilities, and equipment utilizing FLIGHT DECK fundamentals (Action Planning, Standard Work, 5S)
  • Create and maintain development matrices and monitor training progress for instrumentation mechanics within the Thin Film Lab
  • Support execution of microfabricated sensor applications for Aerospace engines and aircrafts testing both in the design and application
  • Assist department leadership in process improvements and standard work development
  • In-depth understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work. In-depth understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area
  • Consult with engineering teams, CTHs, and SMEs to resolve technical operational challenges
  • Lead functional teams or projects with minimal resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity
  • Developing in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline. Uses prior experience and acquired technical expertise to execute policy/strategy
  • Coordinate maintenance and upgrades for all IAS facility and equipment assets
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 5 years of experience in manufacturing processes)
  • A minimum of 3 yrs experience in manufacturing, production processes, operations, or technical project management
  • This role requires the successful candidate to maintain a US Government Security Clearance; prerequisite for a security clearance is U.S. Citizenship. Preference will be given to candidates who currently hold US Government Security Clearance
