Job summary

Brad Foote Gearing in Cicero, IL is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer with 3+ years in a machining environment to join its engineering team. Responsibilities

• Develop routings, work instructions, and engineering prints for CNC machining and CNC gear hobbing
• Develop and improve processes for manufacturing gear-related products
• Assist manufacturing supervisors with tooling, applications, and the selection of speeds and feeds for CNC machining, gear hobbing, and gashing
• Troubleshoot machining operations and machine tool problems on the shop floor, assisting supervisors and maintenance with problem-solving and repair
• Assist with the qualification and setup of first article inspection
• Analyze costs, processes, planning, and functional controls to drive continuous improvement in cost, quality, and delivery
• Work with tooth grinding and CMM/GMM operators to interpret and inspect gear micro‑geometries
• Assist with plant layout of machine tools for product flow and efficiency

Machines, Controls and Software

This role works across CNC machining centers and CNC gear hobbing/gashing equipment, with exposure to tooth grinding and CMM/GMM inspection for gear micro‑geometry. Reading G-code and conversational programming across various machine tool controllers is required, and strong knowledge of cutting tool and tooling/fixture applications is preferred.

What We're Looking For

Required

• BSME or similar degree, plus 3+ years of experience as a manufacturing engineer in a machining environment
• ISO9001 experience
• Ability to read technical drawings for precision gearing and components
• Ability to read and understand G-code and conversational programming for various machine tool controllers

Preferred

• Gearing industry experience, or heavy machining experience with knowledge of turning and milling
• AS9100 experience
• Strong knowledge of cutting tool applications
• Proficiency with precision measuring gages and product acceptance requirements, or willingness to learn
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles applied to machining, or willingness to learn
• CNC programming proficiency, or willingness to learn

Pay, Benefits and Schedule

This role pays $80,000–$100,000 per year on a full-time, exempt basis.
