Job summary

Bastian Automation is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer Intern to provide technical leadership in identifying equipment needs for manufacturing and conveyor assembly. The intern will profile equipment vendors, write specifications, and explore new technologies to maximize capital utilization and reduce time to volume.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Advanced Excel skills are preferred.
• Proficient with SolidWorks or other 3D modeling software.
• Experience using calipers, micrometers, and CMM is preferred.
• Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
• Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication abilities with minimal supervision.
• Familiarity with MRP tools for planning/scheduling is preferred.
• Willingness to travel regionally to learn customer requirements.
• Authorized to work in the USA without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Support material flow and Plan for Every Part concept.
• Develop visual aids and work instructions for engineering and other functions.
• Assist quality with measurements and quality plans/procedures.
• Assist with 3D drawing creation for engineered products and systems.
• Create Value Stream Maps (VSM) current vs. optimal.
• Assist in product performance testing and failure analysis.
• Adhere to assembly safety standards.
• Perform other duties of similar nature as assigned.
