We’re Hiring: 3D Inspection Programmer / Metrology Specialist

Bill Rate: $50/hr
Contract Duration: Approximately 12 Months (Possible extension)
Hours: 40 hours/week
We’re seeking an experienced inspection professional to support 3D scanning, dimensional analysis, and manufacturing process improvements.
Must-Have Skills
- Minimum 3 years of experience using ZEISS INSPECT/GOM software for 3D inspection and analysis.
- Proficiency interpreting engineering drawings, model-based definitions, and GD&T requirements in accordance with ASME Y14.5.
Key Responsibilities
- Generate, maintain, and verify blue light inspection programs using ZEISS INSPECT 3D software.
- Provide 3D analysis support to Manufacturing Engineering and train operators on new processes, process changes, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Provide daily shop-floor support for 3D scanning, program execution, troubleshooting, and inspection data review.
- Develop and maintain workstation instructions, inspection methods, and supporting documentation.
- Support improvements in safety, quality, delivery, and cost for 3D scanning processes.
- Collaborate with engineering, quality, operations, and inspection teams to resolve issues and align priorities.
- Work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, matrixed manufacturing environment.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree, associate degree, or completion of a machinist apprenticeship, with at least 3 years of dimensional inspection experience; OR
- High school diploma/GED with at least 6 years of dimensional inspection experience.
- Minimum 3 years of ZEISS INSPECT/GOM experience.
- Strong understanding of engineering drawings, model-based definitions, and ASME Y14.5 GD&T requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience programming and operating 3D scanning equipment in manual and automated inspection environments.
- Proficiency in point-cloud processing, mesh generation, inspection alignment strategies, and scan data cleanup.
- Ability to analyze inspection results, prepare clear reports, and communicate findings to technical and production teams.
- Familiarity with robotic integration or automated 3D inspection cells.
- Solid modeling experience, preferably with NX 1965, NX 2206, or NX 2412.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, mathematics, computer science, or a related technical field.
- PC-DMIS CMM programming experience.
- Experience with VXelements, Geomagic Control X, Creaform, or similar 3D inspection software.
- Knowledge of VBA, Python, or similar tools for inspection workflow automation and data analysis.
- Strong problem-solving, organizational, geometry, and trigonometry skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks or projects while meeting quality and schedule commitments.
- Experience with heavy-duty gas turbine or aerospace components.
- Availability to provide occasional off-shift or swing-shift production support.
