We are seeking a dedicated professional to help optimize and maintain our 3D scanning workflows. You will be instrumental in creating inspection programs, offering analytical support, and fostering continuous improvement initiatives within our fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Core Responsibilities
- Create, update, and validate Blue Light inspection routines utilizing ZEISS INSPECT 3D software.
- Assist the Manufacturing Engineering team with 3D analysis and help train operators on new processes to improve overall team efficiency.
- Provide daily floor support by executing 3D scanning programs, troubleshooting issues, and reviewing inspection data.
- Draft and maintain comprehensive workstation instructions and documentation for 3D scanning procedures.
- Contribute to process improvement projects to help enhance the safety, quality, and cost-effectiveness of our 3D scanning operations.
- Maintain clear communication with engineering, quality, and operations departments to align on project priorities.
- Operate effectively both as an individual contributor and as part of a collaborative, matrixed manufacturing team.
- Adapt quickly to a high-volume production environment while championing positive change and continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree, associate degree, or machinist apprenticeship with at least 3 years of dimensional inspection experience; or a high school diploma/GED with at least 6 years of relevant experience.
- At least 3 years of hands‑on experience utilizing ZEISS INSPECT/GOM software for 3D analysis and inspection.
- Proven ability to interpret engineering drawings, model‑based definitions, and GD&T standards per ASME Y14.5.
Technical Skills
- Demonstrated proficiency in programming and operating 3D scanning hardware in both manual and automated settings.
- Experience with mesh generation, point‑cloud processing, scan data cleanup, and inspection alignment strategies.
- Ability to analyze inspection results, produce detailed reports, and share findings with technical and production teams to drive better outcomes.
- Familiarity with automated inspection cells or robotic integration for 3D scanning.
- Experience working with solid models, specifically NX 1965, NX 2206, or NX 2412.
- Bachelor's degree in mathematics, engineering, computer science, or a related technical field.
- Experience with PC-DMIS CMM programming.
- Proficiency with Creaform, VXelements, Geomagic Control X, or similar 3D inspection tools.
- Experience with Python, VBA, or comparable scripting languages to help automate workflows and data analysis.
- Strong organizational and problem‑solving skills, including advanced shop math proficiency in trigonometry and geometry.
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks while ensuring quality standards and project schedules are met.
- Experience with aerospace or heavy‑duty gas turbine components.
- Flexibility to provide support for swing‑shift or off‑shift production requirements as needed.
Benefits and Compensation
The standard base pay for this position in the U.S. ranges from $50.00 to $54.00 per hour. Non-exempt employees are eligible for overtime pay at 1.5 times the base rate for hours exceeding 40 per week, in accordance with applicable laws. Final compensation is determined based on individual experience, education, and skills.
