Job summary

Saint-Gobain/CertainTeed is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer III to serve as the lead technical resource across two facilities. You will drive operational excellence through process optimization, Industry 4.0 initiatives, and data-driven decision making while ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality operations.

You will own capital projects including a ~$2M annual CapEx budget and support new product development through design, validation, and cost analysis, mentoring teams and developing SOPs

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering disciplines (mechanical, electrical, industrial, materials, or mechatronics).
  • 7+ years of engineering experience in manufacturing.
  • 5+ years of Lean/WCM experience (6 Sigma Green/Black Belt).
  • 3+ years of AutoCAD and SolidWorks experience.
  • Project Management Certification.
  • Knowledge of SAP or other ERP systems preferred.
  • MES software development/rollout experience.

Job description

The Manufacturing Engineer III serves as the lead technical resource for manufacturing processes, capital projects, and digital manufacturing systems across two production facilities. This role drives operational excellence through process optimization, Industry 4.0 initiatives, continuous improvement, and data-driven decision-making while ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Champion a strong safety culture through compliance, risk assessment, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Analyze production data and apply statistical tools (SPC, DOE) to improve performance, quality, and efficiency.
  • Lead Industry 4.0 and digital manufacturing initiatives in partnership with central technology teams.
  • Manage and execute capital projects, including ownership of an annual CapEx budget of approximately $2M.
  • Support new product development through process design, validation, testing, and cost analysis.
  • Drive continuous improvement efforts using root cause analysis, Kaizen, and Lean manufacturing principles.
  • Mentor teams and promote best practices in problem-solving and operational excellence.
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation, including SOPs, work instructions, BOMs, and routings.

What You Bring:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Material Science, Mechatronics
  • 7+ years of Engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Metal fabrication: 5+ years of forming, bending, cutting, punching, etc.
  • 5+ years of demonstrated project management skills
  • 5+ years of Lean/WCM experience (6 sigma Green/Black Belt)
  • 3+ years of AutoCAD and SolidWorks experience
  • Project Management Certification
  • Knowledge of SAP or other ERP systems is preferred
  • MES Software functional development/rollout experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and demonstrated ability to work independently on assignments
  • Flexible and open-minded with good written and oral communication; strong collaboration skills
