Lucid Motors is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to develop, launch, validate, sustain, and continuously improve manufacturing equipment and processes within the Powertrain Drive Unit organization. Assigned to the Stator + Rotor team, this engineer will combine hands‑on equipment expertise with structured, data‑driven problem solving.

The role involves leading cross‑functional design reviews, equipment qualification, and process validation to ensure safety, quality, and throughput.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechatronics, Automotive Engineering or related field.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in DFM/DFA reviews and translate product requirements into safe, capable, maintainable manufacturing processes.
  • Stator assembly, winding equipment, forming, insulation handling, coating, heating, joining, and electrical verification.
  • Rotor stack and shaft handling, automated assembly, heating, press‑fit operations, tooling and fixturing, spin and balance, testing.
  • Develop process documentation, manufacturing instructions, parameter standards, PFMEAs, troubleshooting guides, and handoff packages.

Lucid is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to develop, launch, validate, sustain, and continuously improve manufacturing equipment and processes within the Powertrain Drive Unit organization. Assigned to the Stator + Rotor team, this engineer will combine hands‑on equipment expertise with structured, data‑driven problem solving.

Responsibilities may include:
  • Participate in DFM/DFA reviews and translate product requirements into safe, capable, maintainable, and scalable manufacturing processes.
  • Stator assembly, winding equipment, forming, insulation‑sensitive handling, coating or impregnation, heating, joining, and electrical verification.
  • Rotor stack and shaft handling, automated assembly, heating, press‑fit operations, tooling and fixturing, spin and balance, and performance validation.
  • Develop manufacturing concepts, process requirements, equipment specifications, scopes of work, RFQ packages, technical bid reviews, and supplier‑selection inputs.
  • Coordinate cross‑functional design reviews for assigned stations, tooling, automated equipment, and factory integration requirements.
  • Support supplier build, runoff, installation, utility readiness, commissioning, debug, and production integration.
  • Plan and execute FAT, SAT, equipment qualification, process validation, capability studies, Run‑at‑Rate, and final acceptance against safety, quality, cycle time, throughput, reliability, maintainability, traceability, and specification requirements.
  • Lead structured problem‑solving using methods such as 8D, 5 Why, Six Sigma, DOE, fault‑tree analysis, and root cause analysis.
  • Provide hands‑on ramp support, containment, recovery planning, and corrective action for equipment and process issues.
  • Improve first‑pass yield, process capability, scrap, rework, cycle time, throughput, uptime, reliability, and error‑proofing; identifybottlenecks and standardize validated solutions.
  • Evaluate engineering changes for product, tooling, process, equipment, controls, validation, documentation, cost, and implementation impacts.
  • Develop process documentation, manufacturing instructions, parameter standards, PFMEAs, troubleshooting guides, spare‑partsand recovery plans, training inputs, and operational handoff packages.
  • Track schedules, technical risks, open issues, recovery actions, and readiness for launch and Start of Production milestones; capture lessons learned and reusable standards.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechatronics, Automotive Engineering, or a closely related discipline; equivalent relevant education and experience may be considered where permitted.
  • Two or more years of relevant experience in manufacturing, process or equipment engineering, industrialization, automation integration, or high‑volume production.
  • Experience supporting the design, launch, integration, validation, or sustaining of automated manufacturing equipment.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical systems, tooling, fixtures, manufacturing tolerances, GD&T, equipment controlsand robotics, and safety circuits.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Direct EV Powertrain experience involving E-Motor, Inverter, Stator, Rotor, Drive Unit assembly, or end‑of‑line test.
  • Experience with equipment procurement and supplier management, RFQs, design reviews, FAT/SAT protocols, commissioning, validation, and equipment buyoff.
  • Experience with capability analysis, MSA/GRR, PFMEA, control plans, process flows, DOE, SPC, MES, traceability, and manufacturing data systems.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, CATIA, DELMIA, SolidWorks, Fusion, or comparable CAD, layout, or manufacturing‑simulation tools.
  • Automotive OEM, Tier 1, high‑volume automation, or complex electromechanical product experience; Lean or Six Sigma training is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel domestically or internationally, normally up to 25%, based on project needs.
Compensation & Benefits:

Hourly/non‑exempt employees accrue up to 120 hours paid time off, and salaried/exempt employee accrue up to 160 hours paid time off. Incentive and equity awards, if applicable, are determined based on individual performance, role scope, market considerations, and overall company results, in accordance with the terms of the applicable plans.
