Job summary

General ThermoDynamics, an API Heat Transfer Company, is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer II to support our Franklin, Wisconsin manufacturing operations. This role helps improve production processes, enhance product quality, and drive operational efficiency on the production floor.

You will work with Operations, Quality, Maintenance, Supply Chain and Engineering to lead continuous improvement, NPI, tooling, and automation initiatives, delivering measurable productivity and cost savings.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
  • 3–5 years of manufacturing engineering experience.
  • Experience supporting fabrication, welding, machining, assembly, or industrial manufacturing operations.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze manufacturing processes to identify opportunities for productivity, quality, throughput, and cost improvements.
  • Develop and implement process improvements using Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Conduct time studies, workflow evaluations, and capacity analyses.
  • Establish and maintain manufacturing work instructions, process documentation, and standard work.
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing, equipment, tooling, and process-related issues.
  • Lead root cause investigations and implement corrective actions.

General ThermoDynamics (GTD), an API Heat Transfer Company, is seeking a skilled and motivated Manufacturing Engineer II to support our Franklin, Wisconsin manufacturing operations. This position plays a key role in improving production processes, enhancing product quality, increasing operational efficiency, and supporting the manufacture of industry-leading heat exchanger products.

The Manufacturing Engineer II will work closely with Operations, Quality, Maintenance, Supply Chain, and Engineering teams to identify opportunities for continuous improvement, implement process enhancements, and support new product introduction activities. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys solving complex manufacturing challenges and driving measurable results on the production floor.

What You'll Do
Process Improvement & Operational Support
  • Analyze manufacturing processes to identify opportunities for productivity, quality, throughput, and cost improvements.
  • Develop and implement process improvements utilizing Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Conduct time studies, workflow evaluations, and capacity analyses.
  • Establish and maintain manufacturing work instructions, process documentation, and standard work.
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing, equipment, tooling, and process-related issues.
  • Lead root cause investigations and implement corrective actions.
Continuous Improvement
  • Lead Kaizen events and continuous improvement projects.
  • Drive waste reduction initiatives focused on safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
  • Utilize Lean Manufacturing and problem-solving methodologies to improve operational performance.
  • Track and report measurable improvements in productivity, quality, and cost savings.
New Product Introduction (NPI)
  • Support the transition of new products from design through production.
  • Develop manufacturing processes, tooling requirements, and production documentation.
  • Participate in pilot builds and product launch activities.
  • Identify and resolve manufacturability concerns during product development.
Tooling, Equipment & Automation
  • Design and implement tooling, fixtures, and process improvements.
  • Support equipment upgrades, installations, and process validation activities.
  • Collaborate with Maintenance and external suppliers to improve equipment performance.
  • Identify opportunities for automation and productivity enhancements.
Quality & Compliance
  • Partner with Quality to improve process capability and product quality.
  • Support corrective and preventive action initiatives.
  • Participate in ISO audits and customer quality initiatives.
  • Ensure manufacturing processes comply with company and customer requirements.
Qualifications
Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of manufacturing engineering experience.
  • Experience supporting fabrication, welding, machining, assembly, or industrial manufacturing operations.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred
  • Experience in heat exchanger, HVAC, pressure vessel, or metal fabrication manufacturing environments.
  • Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma experience.
  • Project management experience.
  • Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems.
  • Experience with CAD software and tooling design.
  • Knowledge of welding and fabrication processes.
