Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an engineer who can bridge design and manufacturing in a fast-paced machine shop. You will translate CAD models into manufacturable parts, design fixtures, and drive process improvements to reduce cycle times and costs.

You will collaborate with engineering and quality teams to uphold GD&T standards and own a set of hardware from concept through production, ensuring on-time delivery for testing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or 5+ years in a machine shop environment implementing the listed responsibilities.
• Experience with CAD software such as Pro-E, CATIA, Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks, or NX.
• Advanced understanding of GD&T per ASME Y14.5 Standards.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and a passion for building, making things happen.

Responsibilities

• Act as liaison between the machine shop and the engineering team.
• Provide feedback to engineers to optimize time- and cost-efficient manufacturing methods.
• Ensure on-time delivery of rocket components from CAD models to test-ready hardware.
• Research new manufacturing methods and related processes.
• Collaborate with design to ensure manufacturability of components.
• Manage lookaheads for long lead tasks.
• Improve processes and reduce cycle times.
• Implement quick changeover improvements.
• Be accountable for a set of hardware from concept to production.
• Create work instructions.
• Identify issues and collaborate with Quality for corrective actions.
• Coordinate with Tooling and Programming to ensure job readiness.
• Conceptual design and sourcing of work holding.
