Job summary

Blast Cleaning Technologies, Inc. (BCT) is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer II to lead initiatives across fabrication, machining, welding, and assembly. You will develop processes, tooling, and standard work to improve safety, quality, throughput, and cost.

Under the Manufacturing Engineering Manager, you will drive continuous improvement, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate with cross-functional teams on projects from concept to implementation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related engineering field.
• 3–7 years of manufacturing engineering experience.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Experience with ERP systems and cost accounting is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead evaluation, development, and implementation of manufacturing processes.
• Develop standards, routings, work instructions, and SOPs.
• Provide technical leadership and troubleshoot issues on the floor.
• Lead root cause investigations and corrective actions.
• Evaluate product designs for manufacturability and cost.

General Description

Under the direction of the Manufacturing Engineering Manager, the Manufacturing Engineer II independently leads manufacturing engineering initiatives that improve safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and cost performance across fabrication, machining, welding, and assembly operations. This position serves as a technical resource to manufacturing operations and evaluates, develops, and implements manufacturing processes and technologies.

The Manufacturing Engineer II leads moderate to complex projects, supports capital equipment initiatives, develops fixturing and tooling solutions, and drives continuous improvement activities. This position exercises independent judgment, manages multiple priorities, and provides technical guidance during manufacturing problem-solving and process improvement efforts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Lead the evaluation, development, and implementation of manufacturing processes across fabrication, machining, welding, and assembly operations.
• Develop and maintain manufacturing standards, routings, work instructions, standard operating procedures, and other process documentation.
• Provide technical leadership and day-to-day support to manufacturing operations by troubleshooting manufacturing, quality, and process-related issues.
• Lead root cause investigations and implement sustainable corrective actions to improve process performance and product quality.
• Evaluate product designs for manufacturability and recommend changes that improve safety, quality, efficiency, and cost.
• Design and implement fixtures, tooling, and work-holding solutions for manual and robotic manufacturing processes.
• Evaluate, select, and implement manufacturing equipment, processes, and technologies that improve operational performance.
• Support equipment installation, commissioning, validation, training, and production startup activities.
• Independently lead manufacturing improvement projects through cross team collaboration from concept through implementation, including scope development, scheduling, budgeting, execution, and sustainment.
• Analyze manufacturing and operational data to identify, prioritize, and implement improvements that reduce cost, improve throughput, enhance quality, and eliminate waste.
• Support capacity planning, workflow optimization, labor efficiency improvements, and make-versus-buy evaluations.
• Provide technical guidance and informal mentoring to Manufacturing Engineer I personnel and manufacturing team members.
• Communicate technical information, project progress, risks, and results effective to stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
• Follow and promote all company safety requirements while incorporating safety, ergonomic, and environmental considerations into engineering solutions.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Three to seven years of manufacturing engineering experience in fabrication, welding, machining, or industrial manufacturing.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks or equivalent 3D CAD software and working knowledge of AutoCAD or similar 2D drafting software.
• Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings, bills of material, tolerances, and manufacturing specifications.
• Working knowledge of ERP systems, routings, work centers, labor standards, and manufacturing costing.
• Demonstrated ability to lead projects and independently resolve technical problems.
• Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and project management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with laser or plasma cutting, waterjet cutting, forming, machining, manual welding, robotic welding, or assembly.
• Experience applying Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methods.
• Experience implementing manufacturing equipment or production technologies.
• Exposure to automation, robotics, controls, or process data systems.
• Experience leading cross-functional manufacturing projects.
