Job summary

Blast Cleaning Technologies, Inc. (BCT) in West Allis seeks a Manufacturing Engineer I to support and improve fabrication, machining, welding, and assembly processes. You will work with shop teams to develop technical specs, create routings, and drive safety, quality, and cost improvements.

The role emphasizes hands-on engineering, documentation, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to maintain efficient production and continuous learning. Bachelor's degree required; on-site work only.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing/Mechanical/Industrial Engineering or related field.
• Zero to three years in manufacturing engineering or related internship/co-op.
• Proficiency with SolidWorks and basic AutoCAD or similar drafting tools.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and BOMs.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain routings, work instructions, SOPs, and production releases.
• Review BOMs, drawings, CAD models to support readiness.
• Provide day-to-day engineering support for process troubleshooting.
• Design and implement fixtures, jigs, templates, and work-holding solutions.
• Assist with labor standards, cost estimates, and make-versus-buy decisions.
• Maintain ERP routings and labor data.
• Support continuous improvement in workflow, safety, quality, and productivity.
• Collect and analyze production data to inform decisions.
• Collaborate with production, quality, maintenance, planning, and engineering.

General Description

Under the direction of the Manufacturing Engineering Manager, the Manufacturing Engineer I supports the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes across fabrication, machining, welding, and assembly operations. This position works directly with manufacturing team members to provide day-to-day engineering support while developing technical expertise in manufacturing methods, equipment, and continuous improvement practices.

The Manufacturing Engineer I creates and maintains manufacturing documentation, assists with tooling and fixture development, supports production processes, and contributes to projects that improve safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and cost performance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.

• Create and maintain manufacturing routings, work instructions, standard operating procedures, production releases, and related engineering documentation.
• Review bills of material, engineering drawings, CAD models, and DXF files to support manufacturing readiness and production requirements.
• Provide day-to-day engineering support to manufacturing operations by assisting with process troubleshooting and technical problem solving.
• Design, document, and implement basic fixtures, jigs, templates, and work-holding solutions that improve safety, quality, repeatability, and productivity.
• Assist with manufacturing labor standards, cost estimates, quotations, and make-versus-buy evaluations.
• Maintain accurate ERP routings, work centers, labor standards, and related manufacturing data.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives by assisting in the identification and implementation of opportunities to improve workflow, material flow, safety, quality, productivity, and cost performance.
• Collect and analyze production data to support engineering decisions, validate improvements.
• Support projects involving new manufacturing processes, equipment, and technologies that expand internal manufacturing capabilities.
• Collaborate effectively with production, quality, maintenance, planning, and engineering personnel to achieve project and operational objectives.
• Communicate project status, action items, risks, and completion dates in a timely and professional manner.
• Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements while incorporating safety and ergonomic principles into engineering solutions.
• Demonstrate accountability for meeting company and customer timelines, while supporting BCT's Culture and Core Values.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Zero to three years of manufacturing, engineering, internship, co-op, or related technical experience.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks or equivalent 3D CAD software and basic working knowledge of AutoCAD or similar 2D drafting software.
• Basic ability to interpret engineering drawings, bills of material, and manufacturing specifications.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to prioritize multiple assignments and meet established deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience or coursework related to metal fabrication, welding, machining, or industrial manufacturing.
• Familiarity with ERP systems, manufacturing routings, work centers, and labor standards.
• Exposure to Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methods.
• Basic fixture and tooling design experience.
