Job summary

Howmet Fastening Systems seeks a Manufacturing Engineer II to join our Tucson, AZ facility. The role focuses on maintaining production flow, drawing control, and tooling improvements within a leading aerospace fastening systems unit.

The ideal candidate has a mechanical/ aerospace/ metallurgical engineering background, SolidWorks proficiency, and experience with lean manufacturing and MRP systems. ITAR compliance and on-site work at Tucson are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical, aerospace, metallurgical engineering or related field.
• Must be proficient in SolidWorks.
• QAD MRP experience preferred.
• Three to five year of experience in a metal working industry is preferred.
• Familiarity to metal working principles required.
• Must have strong communication and problem solving skills.
• Must be skilled in use of personal computers with emphasis on analytical software.
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing, JIT, SPC, TQM, etc. are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain flow of production via real time trouble shooting and evaluation of rejected product.
• Maintain product drawings, routing sheets, manufacturing procedures and material specifications.
• Provide continuous improvement of tooling and manufacturing methods.
• Lead Capital Projects: justification and industrialization.
• Work with and lead production teams to enhance manufacturing processes and troubleshoot issues.
• Lead cross functional team in the determination of root cause, corrective action of problems.
• Help to ensure that quality and standards for the department are adhered to and maintained.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Adhere to Howmet EH&S, Quality, Continuous Improvements and other Company Policies.

This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.

This position will physically require the incumbent to perform duties standing, walking, overhead reaching, lifting (35 - 40lbs), pushing and pulling totes, and leaning over machines, all equally on a regular basis.
