Job Summary
Add value through knowledge about process engineering, rapid response to operations in technical resolution, failure analysis, and complete risk assessments for all new activities. Complete projects within the site or with suppliers/customers. This is a technical role, but communication skills are paramount for success. Must be familiar with a wide range of aerospace-specific metal material treatment processes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Support all production engineering activities within an ESD-controlled shop floor environment, including equipment fault finding, new product introduction, and process verification.
- Complete training in responsibility areas within the assigned time, including training on policies, procedures, and safety/environmental standards.
- Follow all safety policies and measures within the work area.
- Lead technical projects to improve process capacity, yield, and maintainability.
- Provide technical support for resolving component quality issues.
- Ensure closure of component non-conformance issues with corrective actions and control plan approvals.
- Implement documentation and controls for all product processes in line with company, international (AS9100), and customer standards.
- Produce, sign off, and train operators on new processes with detailed work instructions.
- Complete risk assessments prior to activities not covered by standard procedures, ensuring hazards are acknowledged and mitigated.
- Advise management on job progress, parts availability, delivery targets, and emergent problems.
- Monitor production processes and take actions to minimize problems.
- Participate in team training and improvement initiatives.
- Work occasional extended hours, including weekends, as needed.
- Assist with NPI process development.
- Develop FMEA and process controls, including inspection, fixture development, and asset optimization.
- Continuously improve process yields and component costs.
- Drive standardization of equipment, media, and handling procedures.
- Support data gathering and reporting for operations and quality functions.
- Assist with component estimating and technical support for equipment selection and capital requests.
- Maintain specific knowledge of aerospace specifications and testing parameters.
Management & Supervisory Responsibilities
This role does not involve direct management of employees.

Knowledge Requirements

- Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Process validation and quality system knowledge.
- Proficiency in computer applications, statistical software, and engineering tools (FEA, CAD).
Education & Experience
- BSc or BEng in engineering, preferably electronics or mechanical.
- Experience in equipment/process fault finding, production support, and process engineering.
- Minimum of 5 years in a production environment, ideally within ESD or electronics sectors.
