Job description

We’re looking for people who put their innovation to work to advance our success – and their own. Join an organization that ensures a more secure world through connecting and protecting our customers with inventive electrical solutions.

As a manufacturing engineer, you’ll play a hands‑on role in improving how we manufacture our products—driving efficiency, quality, safety, and cost improvements across the plant. This is a great opportunity for an early‑career engineer to gain broad exposure to Lean manufacturing, capital projects, and cross‑functional collaboration while making a visible impact on daily operations.

What You’ll Experience in this position:
Process Improvement & Lean Manufacturing
  • Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives using Lean tools such as Kaizen, DMAIC, standard work, value stream mapping, and 5S.
  • Improve manufacturing processes, work cell layouts, material flow, and line balancing to enhance safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
Project & Capital Support
  • Lead engineering projects from concept through implementation, including defining scope, timelines, costs, and expected benefits.
  • Support capital expenditure projects by developing justifications, coordinating implementation, and ensuring successful startup and sustainability.
Production & Cross‑Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with operators, team leaders, value stream managers, planners, purchasing, and operations leaders to support daily manufacturing activities.
  • Provide hands‑on support on the production floor to troubleshoot process, tooling, and equipment issues. Advise and collaborate with maintenance teams on equipment repairs, improvements, and reliability enhancements.
Product, Tooling & Documentation Support
  • Process Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) for product and documentation updates.
  • Design and develop tooling, fixtures, gauges, visual aids, and work instructions to support safe and efficient production.
Systems & Continuous Improvement
  • Contribute to the annual nVent Integrated Management System (PIMS) implementation plan based on value stream mapping and business metrics.
  • Support efforts to reduce waste, improve employee safety, and increase overall plant efficiency.
What You’ll Gain in This Role:
  • Hands‑on ownership of manufacturing and process improvement projects
  • Exposure to capital projects and manufacturing system design
  • Experience working directly with production teams and operations leadership
  • Opportunities to develop Lean expertise and technical depth
  • A strong foundation for career growth into advanced manufacturing, process, or operations engineering roles
YOU HAVE:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering
  • Ideally 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment
  • Automation, controls and robotics experience preferred
  • Working knowledge of Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement concepts
  • Experience supporting process improvements or engineering projects preferred
WE HAVE:
  • A dynamic global reach with diverse operations around the world that will stretch your abilities, provide plentiful career opportunities, and allow you to make an impact every day
  • Commitment to strengthen communities where our employees live and work
  • Core values that shape our culture and drive us to deliver the best for our employees and our customers. We’re known for being:
