Job summary

nVent is seeking an early‑career Manufacturing Engineer in Solon, Ohio to drive Lean manufacturing initiatives and improve how products are made on the plant floor. You will lead process improvements, support capital projects from concept to implementation, and collaborate closely with operators, team leaders, and other stakeholders to deliver safety, quality, and cost benefits.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Ideally 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Automation, controls and robotics experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement concepts.
  • Experience supporting process improvements or engineering projects preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Improve manufacturing processes, layouts, material flow, and line balancing.
  • Lead engineering projects from concept through implementation.
  • Develop justifications and coordinate capital expenditures.
  • Collaborate with production and operations teams.
  • Troubleshoot processes, tooling, and equipment on the production floor.
  • Advise maintenance on equipment repairs and reliability.
  • Design tooling, fixtures, gauges, and work instructions.

As a manufacturing engineer, you’ll play a hands‑on role in improving how we manufacture our products—driving efficiency, quality, safety, and cost improvements across the plant.

This is a great opportunity for an early‑career engineer to gain broad exposure to Lean manufacturing, capital projects, and cross‑functional collaboration while making a visible impact on daily operations.

What You’ll Experience in this position:
  • Process Improvement & Lean Manufacturing Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives using Lean tools such as Kaizen, DMAIC, standard work, value stream mapping, and 5S.
  • Improve manufacturing processes, work cell layouts, material flow, and line balancing to enhance safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
  • Project & Capital Support Lead engineering projects from concept through implementation, including defining scope, timelines, costs, and expected benefits.
  • Support capital expenditure projects by developing justifications, coordinating implementation, and ensuring successful startup and sustainability.
  • Production & Cross‑Functional Collaboration Partner with operators, team leaders, value stream managers, planners, purchasing, and operations leaders to support daily manufacturing activities.
  • Provide hands‑on support on the production floor to troubleshoot process, tooling, and equipment issues.
  • Advise and collaborate with maintenance teams on equipment repairs, improvements, and reliability enhancements.
  • Product, Tooling & Documentation Support Process Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) for product and documentation updates.
  • Design and develop tooling, fixtures, gauges, visual aids, and work instructions to support safe and efficient production.
  • Systems & Continuous Improvement Contribute to the annual nVent Integrated Management System (PIMS) implementation plan based on value stream mapping and business metrics.
  • Support efforts to reduce waste, improve employee safety, and increase overall plant efficiency.

YOU HAVE:
