Job summary

Mercury Systems is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer II to develop and improve manufacturing processes for defense and aerospace products. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, in person and digitally, to optimize operations and drive continuous improvement.

Your work ensures high-quality, reliable products with compliance to AS9100, ITAR, and NADCAP while delivering cost reductions and productivity gains across the production floor.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in manufacturing engineering or related field.
• 2+ years in manufacturing engineering, preferably in defense/aerospace.
• Experience with CNC, additive manufacturing, assembly and test processes.
• Familiar with AS9100, ITAR, NADCAP and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Design and improve manufacturing processes, procedures and work instructions.
• Identify reductions in cycle times and improve efficiency and safety.

Job description

As a Manufacturing Engineer II in the Defense and Aerospace industry, your primary responsibility will be to develop and improve manufacturing processes and systems to ensure the efficient and cost-effective production of defense and aerospace products. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, in person and digitally, including design engineers, production personnel, and quality assurance, to optimize manufacturing operations and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Job Responsibilities:

• Design and develop manufacturing processes, procedures, and work instructions to meet product specifications and quality standards
• Identify and implement improvements to enhance efficiency, productivity, and safety
• Collaborate with design engineers to ensure producibility and manufacturability of new products
• Support factory and production operations by diagnosing, repairing, and/or engineering solutions to product errors or defects.
• Analyze production data, identify bottlenecks, and implement corrective actions to optimize production flow and reduce cycle times
• Evaluate manufacturing equipment and technologies, recommend suitable options, and oversee their integration into production lines
• Ensure equipment meets industry standards, safety regulations, and customer requirements
• Lead and participate in Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma initiatives
• Identify areas for improvement, implement process enhancements, and drive cost reduction, waste elimination, and quality improvement efforts
• Resolve production-related quality issues and implement preventive measures to ensure compliance with industry and customer specifications

Required Qualifications:

• Typically requires Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Typically requires 2+ years manufacturing engineering roles, preferably in the defense or aerospace industry
• Experience with manufacturing processes, equipment, and technologies, including CNC machining, additive manufacturing, assembly, and testing
• Experience with industry standards and regulations, such as AS9100, ITAR, and NADCAP
• Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies
• Experience leading a small teams through process-improvement initiatives and the engineering, diagnosis and repair of assigned products.

Fulltime Equivalent Job Grade Salary Range for this position

• $65,200.00 - $130,400.00 annual salary for in-office or hybrid employees in FL, GA, IN, AZ, AL, MD or TX, and all remote employees
• $73,000.00 - $146,000.00 annual salary for in-office or hybrid employees in VA, CA, NH or MA
• $76,900.00 - $153,900.00 annual salary for in-office or hybrid employees in NJ
